Negative Product Review

   I ran into an herbal supplement marketed to pregnant women that contains herbs that could induce miscarriage. I would like to negatively review the product but am unsure if that would somehow violate hubpages TOS.  Can anyone point me at a specific answer (I've looked and haven't found one, I'm not being lazy)

      As far as I know, the TOS doesn't say anywhere you can't negatively review a product.

   I wrote a review of 3 cordless drills with the conclusion that while I would buy two of them I would never again consider buying the third.
   
   I've also written a hub on a particular prescription drug that I encouraged users to run away from.
   
   No repercussions from either.

   Hey Melissa,
   
   I generally find when looking at a product review, what are the positives of a product as well as any negatives. I myself attempt to provide reviews with a healthy balance of each, where possible.
   
   I also will be honest in my approach in why I deem a larger portion of negative reviews for any products that warrant it. Hope this helps.

   I am attempting that as much as possible. Somehow "this tea probably tastes pretty good" doesn't really line up with "the herbs in this tea may lead to premature labor"
   
   That was sarcastic, but it was aimed at irresponsible manufacturers rather than your advice

   You can say what you want about a product, positive or negative.  Though, as many hubbers (inc me) are trying to sell products, they don't usually review products they feel strongly negative about.  I would be careful how you word it and make sure you have all your sources researched if you are going to make accusations about a product causing serious harm.

   There are way of doing it that have little or no liability.  Like say what is in the supplement, say some of these ingredient are through by some people to lead to onset of labor, and link to those people. Then all you are doing is providing information.

   The idea of a review is to give one's honest opinion of a particular product or service whether it be good or bad.  As much as postive review is appreciated by all, negative reviews serva an equally important purpose.
   
   HubPages does not administer any form of punishment, per se, for a Hubber writing a bad review.  Given the serious nature of the hub you are intending to write, I would go for it but follow psycheskinner's advice in linking to sites that back up your claim regarding how this product affects a pregnant woman.
