Why if I have 5,000+ hits to my hubs over the past 7 days do I only have 2,198 impressions for my HubPages Ads?!
Are they not always running?
Are they not shown to other hubbers?
Am I really getting a 60/40 split?
It's just been a bit discouraging with the income from that steady on the decline then I notice that.
5,138 hits in the past 7 days
2,198 impressions for the past 7 days
43%.... looks like the 60/40 split isn't in my favor?
As I understand it, HPads are only put on your hubs when HP feels that they have outbid adsense for the privilege. This means that they not always be shown.
Of course, as you point out there is also the 60/40 split as well.
Hmm...
But when you're in the HP Ads program you only get that one Google Adsense ad for yourself... the rest are HPs
So are you saying that there are times where there are no HP Ads on a hub, but instead all the ads are Google Adsense ads and we're only getting paid for the one?
That'd be some kind of crappy if that's the case...
Well, a 60-40 split sounds pretty good at first glance, but there are probably things you are not considering. Just because you are getting a 60% time share doesn't mean your share is during the peak times of the day.
And I think HP has a hand in choosing the ads to place on your hubs during their time share. I can usually tell when their codes are displayed on my hubs by merely looking at the ads.
During my time the first ad block in the upper right will consist of 1 photo ad, whereas HP's time will fill the same spot with 4 blue text ads. And don't get me started on Amazon sales!
These are but two factors in the 60-40 split. I'm sure there are others, but the bottom line is you can bet the earnings are not even close to a 60-40 split. They can see our earnings but we can't see theirs
Hmm. I think you are analyzing (comparing) 'unlike' terms!
Our share of HP is not 'impressions' it is 'time' eg. Our (the Hubbers) adsense code is put into the page code 60% of the 'time'. HP have us at a disadvantage in this regard that they can remove our code whenever there is a 'high density' time !
After digging through the FAQs you might like to read the information at this link:

It might help all of our confusion
Thank you, Wilderness. Now I finally understand! This has been bothering me for a long time. I must say it is a situation that is highly open to manipulation, since obviously we have no clue about what is being shown when.
The bottom line is that you have no clue about any traffic. You may be getting a million views a day but HP takes credit for all but 200 of them. It seems unlikely to me - eventually either some internet geek or some dissatisfied employee will spill the beans and Hp would be in a world of hurt.
If you can't live with whatever HP says is yours, then you can leave and go elsewhere. Of course, (at least prior to Panda) there were not many places that one could earn as well as HP.
Snipsly gives you 80%... I posted an article there but I'm not going to leave HubPages just yet.
Too big of a following on here and I'm use to the layout. If I ever left it'd be to post all this information on my own site... the heck with a 'share'.

In the past I relied solely on Adsense to earn income from Hubpages, however this year I was able to finally open a PayPal account, so I signed up for the Hubpages Ad program. As expected, I saw a drop in my Adsense earnings, but now it's practically non-existent. I was earning a couple dollars...

I just de-activated my HubPages ads program and I was wondering if someone has any experience to share. Did your AdSense revenue increase after de-activating HP ads?

I'm curious if anyone has tested by a month to month basis whether or not you make more with Adsense alone or with HP Ads?It's impossible to do a true split test, since each month will be different, but I'm curious to hear your results...Some of us won't get a lot of traffic so Adsense might be...

Before joining hubpages ad program I was happily watching my earnings go up with google adsense. I have more hubs now but my earnings are now down to practically nothing! Could somebody explain this to me and what I can do to rectify the situation. Thanks very much!

Some people have said they've turned off HP Ads and just use Adsense and actually make more money from Adsense. I'm considering trying that out and was curious how much more some of you are making just through Adsense. Fifty percent more? Twice as much? Triple? Quadruple?

I was just looking through my earnings, and I am making way more via hubpages earnings program than I am with my own adsense ads shoing up. I believe a 3rd or the ads would be my own adsense ones, but it only accounts for like a few percent of my earnings.Anyone else experience this, and do...
