   I haven't read all of the posts here, but I did read the first one... ... ...
   
   First off, being gay isn't a fad, and neither are the rights of gay people.
   
   "Babies" - really? Gay people have had to be "closet"-ed for so long because of various persecutions afforded to them.
   
   While you cannot compare "gay marriage" to civil rights, you can compare civil rights to civil rights. It is everyone's right to have freedom of expression, freedom of speech, and equal rights. Being married isn't a right, but a straight person's privilege. Right? Fair? Equal? Freedom? No. Are apples being compared to oranges. No. People are people and should be treated as so, equally.
   
   Gay people (male and female) have not yet achieved equality in all areas of freedom, but when that happens (and it will) we will all learn that everyone should be afforded the same privileges and freedoms.

   I think it's a bit humorous that we are taking this forum at all seriously when the deep thinker who started it could not form a grammatical sentence for his title.
   These are the careful intellects who are chasing gays back into the closet.
   The good news is, they are losing.  Polls over the last twenty years clearly show a shift in attitudes toward homosexuality and that will continue as the dinosaurs die off.  The history of our country is one of greater rights and freedoms for more and more of the citizenry, and as much as some would wish it weren't so, our gay brothers and sisters are citizens and protected by the same rights that protect the sidewalk proselytizer.

   If hetrosexuals don't have to come out of the closet as straight then why should gays have to hold up the tag gay in public. Equality says what a person does in their private life is not anyone elses business wheather they are gay or straight...

   Safiq, if you tell people, EVER, whether you are married or single, if you mention your spouse by gender-specific name, if you and your spouse behave like a couple in public, if you have a picture of your spouse on your desk, then you are out of the closet as heterosexual.
   
   Here's an exercise: Spend just THREE DAYS trying to make sure that no one you encounter, whether a stranger or a close friend or a co-worker, knows anything about your orientation. That means no indication that you have a spouse or partner or date. No indication who you raise your children with. No attending events with a "plus one." Then come back and explain how heterosexuals are not "out of the closet."

      Exactly, deblipp. Heterosexuals don't have to come out of the closet because heterosexual is the default setting. Most people are hetero, so there's no need to tell anyone. Also by default, hetero folks get to flaunt their sexuality in public and nobody bats an eye. Do you wear a wedding ring? Flaunting. Get married in public? Flaunting. Announce your engagement? Flaunting. Hold hands with your partner in public? Flaunting. Kiss your partner goodbye on the doorstep? Flaunting. Kiss your partner hello when you meet for dinner? Flaunting. Have a date in public at all? Flaunting.
      
      This is water.
