The first time I posted duplicate comments I used "Deny" to get rid of them. Does the system count that against me -- as denied comments, possibly spam? The next time it happened, I left them. I'd like to get rid of them.
Should I contact the help desk? Based on the FAQ, denied comments can affect the commenter badge -- I'm trying not to trip on all the gew gaws here, but I'd like to know if denying my own comments might be a problem.
(I use a laptop for most of my HP activity and it's slower than my desktop -- if I'm not thinking, I click again when the comment doesn't post and end up with two or three of the same comment. I know -- just stop that.)
Thanks.
I don't see why, but if it has an effect it has to be negligible. Delete away, they look terrible lying there.
Denying comments doesn't work for or against you. So, do as you please.
This does happen with a glitch in the system... comments gets posted twice... i just delete them forever.. don't m ark them as spam however...
I know what you mean. It's just that when my response to a reader posts twice in comments, I can only accept or deny. I'm going to go ahead and use deny to remove them. It's probably not a big deal, it's just that the FAQ mentions denied comments are a factor in commenter level.
Thanks for your response.

Which comments do you deny on your hubs?

What does it mean when your comment does not post immediately on a hub but you can see that others do? Is it related to the "accept or deny" buttons in the comment section on our page? Seems there's another level of regulation I'm missing because it doesn't happen every time. Some...

I recently had an article take a dramatic plunge in views and am trying to figure out why. I had approved a couple very long comments that included misspellings and punctuation errors (now that the Q & A is gone I'm getting some lengthy comments)! Can these comments lead to a plunge? I've since...

How often do you Deny comments from another HP member? If you do deny them is it because of profanity/insults, you don't like what they say because it goes against your hub, you are suppressing commentary, or another reason.

I am curious how other hubers deal with comments made by others on their hubs. I don't want to censor people or delete comments I disagree with, but at the same time I'd like to promote healthy discussion on my guides and not spread poor information around.I wrote a guide on how to set up IRC...

Do you accept or deny comments that leave a link to someone's website?I don't mind people leaving a link to one of their hubs but I don't know about people leaving a link to their own website.
