   Within our self-created "groups," it would be useful if there were some way to duplicate a hub across a couple of groups, as sometimes a topic bridges more than one area.
   
   For example, my recent hub on keeping your readers interested could go in either writing or education; a song parody can cross the lines between humor, music and whatever is the subject matter of the song.
   
   Actually, the same can be said for the main (Hub Pages created)topic categories when first setting up the hub.  Instead of choosing a category, and then having a great many of the others blocked off, leave them all available all the way throughout the choice process, so that you could have "pets"  and then add "humor," instead of finding that the two are not allowed to co-exist. 
   
   I've been stymied this way quite a few times, and have had to 'settle' for a less-than-satisfactory combination of category and sub-categories.  This is especially problematic when the initial category is too general, and begs a sub-category.

      You are talking about placing your hub in multiple categories....is that it?
      
      I agree, I sometimes change around my category and see which gets me more views.

         yes, Cardisa, that's exactly what I mean; the ability to cross-reference the article across two or three categories.
         I guess I could have worded it that way in the first place--that's what I get for trying to get too many things done at once.  I'll be glad when the holiday madness is finished.

      I agree that we need to be able to categorize our hubs in more than one category.  I tend to write hubs that overlap categories and I hate choosing just one.

   Interesting idea, and I like it although I doubt I'd use the capability.  I'm sure many hubbers would be interested in being able to choose more than one category/subcategory.

   S.R.R. developed the Colon Classification, a faceted classification system to enable multiple categorisations of one document.
   
   It seems an obvious need to me here.

   Creating groups isn't just an organizational tool for authors, it's also how HubPages determines which connective links to add to Hubs.  These links are near the bottom of your content right below sharing and voting.
   
   Adding Hubs to more than one group would break that feature.

      Relache, I don't agree. I give my hubs unique group names regardless of which category, for instance I don't group my flash fiction with my novellas, and poetry is in a separate category. I have hubs in the same general category that are in different groups, so I don't think it would make a difference there.
      
      I am more concerned about the categories that HP places on the profile page.

         I agree, Groups are ours and ours to control. I can place fire and water in the same group without hesitation.

            It wouldn't be so bad having a hub in two or three categories, that means that people who follow a category, who might not follow another will see the hub. Take for instance most HP tutorial hubs could also be placed in the technology category, some recipes could be placed in health-nutrition- subcategory.
            
            I would say a maximum of 3 categories. The feature could be added to the create a new hub page.
            
            The suggested categories links could be removed because they are never right anyway and I doubt people actually use them.

            HP uses categories to group the hubs on your profile page. So people who write in several categories, like myself who has hubs in almost all categories, might find that the same hub will show up in several of the categories on the profile page.
            
            Check out the profile page and you will see what I mean.
