Can we add a category for the unique needs of people with various invisible disabilities, such as mental illness, epilepsy, M.S., PTSD, cancer, Lyme disease, heart and neurological diseases, and many more? I believe I read a statistic that 80% of all Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) recipients had invisible disabilities.
I believe that a category for Invisible Disabilities DOES Already Exist....
Did You Not SEE It?
They need to do the same here in Australia.
I have a rare (one in forty thousand people) genetic condition. There is no cure for it. I do not qualify for the disability support pension, as I do not score 20 or higher on Centrelink's (our social security)rank of who is disabled. My condition cost me my last job, and it is so far proving impossible to find another one with my health.
I know one person who receives a disability support pension solely becuase is a junky, and another purely for being alcoholic.
It seems that if your "disability" is self inflicted, you are set for life!
