it's been reported by Fox News, there's been a bit of controversy over the recent turn in DC comics, where many of their recent issues feature graphic violence and sex.  Take in mind, the comics do have warning labels saying they're meant only for young teens and adults, and not for kids.  And, the comic book owner in said video even says he tries to discourage parents for buying them for their kids if it's not age appropriate.  All of this is featured in the Fox telecast, but they still tend to question the morality issues involved.

Here's a link to the video to find out more:

The key is they have warning labels. Sex and violence may be used to attract audience but more books are going to be sold through telling a good story. In 1971 The Comic Code Authority did not give Amazing Spider-Man #96-98 it's seal of approval because of drug use.  The story line was anti drug and it ended up being one of the strongest stories in the series. Perhaps instead of ranting about how wrong something is each story should be looked at individually.  Superheroes fight crime and tackle the less desirable aspects of our society.  Sex and violence are a part of that story.

Well I don't disagree, as it really depends on how well the story is told.  I think from what it seems like, the writers and artists of DC are just trying to make their characters more appealing in the eyes of the public, by making them go through issues that reflect the current time period we live in.  Comic book characters have always evolved changed over the years to survive, and the ones that never did...well they died out over time (i.e. The Shadow, Lone Ranger, and etc).

Personally, if this is somethings that's generating as much sales as Fox news makes it out to be, then it's highly doubtful that DC is going to change this direction any time soon.  Like the situation with Grand Theft Auto III, "money talks and bull s*** walks."  Sure, many Wal-Mart CEO's and Execs weren't too shy to condemn that game publicly upon release, but once it became the highest grossing game of all time (at the time), they were really quick about changing their tune to where they did start selling that same said game that they said they would NEVER sell...

Well my thoughts are nobody is forcing anyone to buy the comic books, so there's really no point in Fox news reporting this issue.  Plus, DC Comics are putting warning labels on those issues, so parents that allow their kids to buy those said issues know what they're getting into.  This is exactly why I hate parents that take their kids to see R-Rated films, and buy them violent games, then they whine and groan all day about how the companies and film studios are negatively influencing their kids...ugh....  Seriously, how much more warning do you want these companies to have for said consumers?

comic books haven't really been geared towards kids since the late 80s/ early 90s. Marvel and DC are purely marketing for the adult crowd it seems now. I hardly ever see a kid in comic shops nowadays. I think video games appeal to them more.

Sex and violence are more commercial; that's why you can walk into a bookstore and find kids pouring over manga and practically ignoring comics (if they even have comics any more).  Plus, you can't just keep revamping the same storylines over and over again.
