I have no wish to put my personal beliefs into this post as that isn't the point. I want to know why believers think that one religion is right and the rest wrong? Or Are there degrees of correctness? Is there a possibility that some are right but others wrong? What are your thoughts?

for monotheists, there's only a belief in one Creator. It boils down on how people define their belief. Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity believes in the same God, btw. There's really no right answer to this question. smile

No, I agree. I am not looking for a right answer! I just want people's opinions. And I meant religions as a whole rather than god or gods. Why do some people choose to believe, say, Islam and not Christianity. Or Judaism over Taoism, etc.

Why would one feel they need to pick one? If you have to pick the lesser of the evils. They can't all be right so most likely they are all wrong.

Obviously you are atheistic in belief, however, many people are not. I just wanted to know why those people feel the need to pick one over the other. Or why you feel they need to pick one over the other!

They don't pick, or most don't pick. It's handed down to them by indoctrination. How many Jews live in Iran?

Most are indoctrinated into their parents religion. Simple, really.

Glad you said "most". What I hold as true i9s totally foreign to what my parents believed. I believe that all religions have a truth at their center, that they all contribute to the knowledge of the inner being and the outer universe, though there is also large areas of religious knowledge which has been mis-comprehended.

And yet, you and "most" other believers here show that to be completely untrue and quite opposite of what you claim.

All religions should be considered as equal, this is the essential point of religion.
