My scores

   My views are going up and I have revised most of my hubs with corrections, photos and more text. I omment often and write about three or four hubs a week, but my scores keep going down. Any thoughts?

      The first thing that comes to my mind is that it appears the scores are based on some kind of algorithm that takes all of your hubs into consideration; a mean average for example. If this is the case, then adding hubs rapidly (3-4/wk) will lower your score because they always start out low at the beginning (usually in the 40-50s). As time goes on, your individual hub scores should improve as viewership improves and this will inevitably increase your overall "average" score. For example, the other day my score was 87 and then I added a new hub answering another hubber's question about eReaders getting viruses. That hub started out with a score of 42. Consequently, my overall score has now dropped to 85 today.
      
      Of course, keep in mind that your score is not made up solely from your individual hub scores, but also from other participation factors throughout the HubPages community.

         What a great and complete reply.  I get really excellent comments from hubbers and many of them ...I guess I should just be patient as you suggested.  Thanks for taking the time with such a great reply.

            I did some checking into it and discovered that what I said before about the "average" score is somewhat correct. If you look at the attached image, you'll see that my average score is actually 71 but my overall score at the time of this screen shot was 86. This indicates that there is more to the scoring system than the hub scores alone. Hmmm, something to investigate.

      Hi Carol,
      From what I can understand, many things are taken into account to determine the hubscore. I've heard that fluctuation is normal and not to worry too much about it.   I do remember it did take a little while after I signed up for my score to reach over the 90's. You are a great writer, so In your case I'm sure it's probably just because you are still so new.  I bet after a little bit of time and after your hubs "season" a little bit, you will get a little closer to where you want to be.  Also, I've noticed that lots of Hubscores are lower than what they used to be. Mine used to stay consistently in the high 90's and now I rarely see it get above 95.  Try not to worry too much... just keep writing great hubs

   My Hubber Score (score with my profile picture) seems to bounce, but as a trend it is moving up.  After a day of maybe posting a Hub, leaving some comments, and answering a few questions, I have gone to bed with a score of 90 only to wake up and have it 88.  It was like my score went to sleep with me.  A few days later, I do little or nothing, and the Hubber score goes up.  i can't figure it out.  But, in general, the score seems to keep improving, and the lowers don't go as low as they did before.
   I have seen Hubbers with a Hubber score of "1".  These are people that are active, write Hubs, ask questions, etc.  I'm not sure how they got that low, but I get the sense they like it or don't care.
   If you search HubPages, you can find a lot of Hubs on how people got to 100 and a few of how thye got to 1.
   As for the scores for my Hubs, individually, they seem to swing dramatically.  I had one Hub get to 96 and now it is low 80's or high 70's.  I didn't change it at all.  In general, my Hub scores seem to be moving to the average.  My average is 76-78.  I have few above 90 and if they are, they don't stay there and of my 39 Hubs, after they have been published for awhile, less than 1/3 are below 75.
   When hubs are first published, they often have a low score which will affect your average (and a low score may make them less appealing for others, usually Hubbers, the first few days.  Sometimes I let them "rise" like bread dough or you could refer to it as letting your Hub bake (I have seen others refer to this phenomenon but I'm not sure if they use the same terms I do).  If you leave your Hub unpublished for a few days, with or without working on it, you will notice the score rise even though no one but you has looked at it.  I have had scores rise to the mid to high 70's before publishing.
   I'm not sure what this accomplishes if anything.  But, at least I feel like I'm doing better the higher the score I have or my Hub has.
   I think the moral of my story is don't worry about it.  Just keep writing good quality Hubs and participating in the community.  The rest will all take care of itself.

   And like me, Einstein had his Adsense account disabled and all the money confiscated because some kid in Iraq clicked on an ad.
   
   Go figure.

   I notice mine jumps down considerably over the weekends. Labor day is coming soon so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
