I asked this question in Q & A, and the hubber told me to report it. I have written two hubs since I changed to the new profile page. Neither hub has the summary. The indexing took a long time. When they finally appeared, both used sentences from the beginning of my hubs. When Google crawls the site, do they not find the summaries? The beginnings of my hubs would not not draw a reader to the site, especially in the first hub. That is what I think. Maybe this is part of the problem you are looking into for us. Thank you.
This has been happening for a few months now.
Google doesn't seem to pluck the text from the summary anymore, choosing instead to take either the first lines or a sentence that include the keywords a searcher typed in.
I don't know if it is a problem or not.
Can't believe I had not put this together before - IzzyM.

I going to check the spare laptop - it better be where I left it.

I just searched for a couple of hubs on google and, sure enough, google has ignored the summaries and used the first couple of sentences. Which is a right pain. Is this a permanent thing or do I have to go and rewrite my hub introductions to optimise them for google?
Happy 3 October.
Several changes have occurred in Google formatting for pages, which excludes traditional Meta tags, like Description [Summary], Keywords, Revisit, etc., being replaced with Structured Data, HTML Micro formatting via PageMap elements. This seems to have been done to update XML parameters for Displays, Rich Snippets [social sharing, previews] and RSS feeds.
If the Summary was used as Description, it now is depreciated and the 1st Paragraph content used. Tags and Keywords have also been depreciated, being replaced by pubdate, publisher/author, etc and use of data-vocabulary.org items (called Breadcrumbs). Example: Explore >> Home and Garden >> Planting Perennials.

My goodness, I have read oh so many forums trying to figure out why my once flourishing hubs suddenly took a devastating nosedive. I have learned a lot from others comments & shared experience. I have also recognized that there seems to potentially be a number of possible reasons why many hubs...

Is this common? On the Google results page, just under the title of my hub, Goodle is using the first sentence of the hub instead of the summary. (Yes, the summary is there on the hub, I checked.) Are summaries just wishful thinking on my part? Is this just more of Google playing hard to get and...

Is anyone else afraid of adding summaries to their hubs?In general, my hubs that have a summary do not do as well as my hubs that do not have a summary. All of my best hubs do not have summaries. I know it is suggested to add a summary to every hub but this makes me afraid...

I was wondering if the traffic will increase if we link to other hubbers with hubs on related topics. Will google value the links from within HP ie .hubpages.com?? Without links our hubs are never going to rank on search engine results, so why don't we try this. A lot of people write on similar...

It is so tough for me to write a summary and keep it within the word limit. When you reach the limit, that's it....I see other summaries that are quite lengthy when I see other Hubs. Is there a "work around"?

Why don't my Hub summaries appear rather than the first few sentences of my Hub in preview?I added a summary to a recently posted Hub, but in my newsfeed I still only see the first few sentences of my Hub instead of the unique summary.
