What is your experience with deleting old hubs?

   In the last Panda update (September 27?) I lost about 25-30% of my traffic. I'd already worked on idle hubs and removed where necessary. I decided to review my poor performing hubs - I selected all hubs with zero views in the last thirty days that were not 'periodical' hubs. I went through each one and deleted any that were either poor quality, over saturated subjects or had no chance of appearing in Serps. I ended up deleting close to 70 or 80 hubs.
   In additiona I reviewed all questions that have had no traffic in the last 30 days and deleted any that would probably not get any views.
   
   Since then my traffic has recovered the 25% and gained an additional 25%.
   
   Has anyone else had similar experiences?

      I write for both Hubpages and Yahoo! and I have been clearing out articles on Yahoo and evaluating articles on Hubpages to see if it makes a difference. I think even if I don't see an immediate difference. I would rather have quality than quantity when it comes to what I post with my name on the Internet. I also feel that poor writing on HP or other programs brings down the writers as a group using that site, so it should be a general rule of thumb for online writers to always go back over their work on a regular basis and update or delete if necessary.

   I have not, but then I have no hubs that show 0 traffic for 30 days.  I took the few that I had out a couple of months ago.
   
   I just had a hub with 2 30 day views go to idle, though.  It is a travel hub to a remote location and never got much traffic - I will let it sit idle until next spring when I'll tweak it for the summer and if it still doesn't perform it will be dumped.  I've got one more idled hub that I keep for sentimental reasons, but won't tweak it to get it back into production as it never did get anything.

   Well Simey I am doing the same thing but much more slowly.
   Every month I am eliminating my worst Hub hoping that eventually I will cut it down to just the Hubs that are worth having.
   Also, I am combining some Hubs I had in "series" that weren't doing well.
   And I am not writing any new Hubs until the smoke clears (whenever that will be...it's been hazy for a long time now) but I am updating the Hubs I have.
   So far though, I have only seen a 200 hit a day plus or minus.
   Nothing major.

   Awhile back I pretty much did the same thing and my views and money tripled...until the Aug 20 Google update.  Overnight my views and money dropped by 2/3 and they have yet to recover.  I really put a lot of work into making improvements, and in the end, wound up very disappointed.

   I don't think culling out old hubs has anything to do with traffic on HP. HP has other issues visited upon it that we are not in control of.
   
   With that said, I have "retired" a number of my hubs, because they were about things that have nothing to do with today. They belonged on HP for a few days or weeks, but then they lost their relevance. I deleted them. I still have them, and if I think I can work them into something more appropriate for today, I will. But I did not publish them anywhere else...they had their lives for a few moments, and now they are fodder for future ideas, maybe.
   
   I guess it's important to say that out of 87 hubs, I retired three. No big deal. I'm sure that retiring them had nothing to do with HP's overall standing in traffic analysis sites. I'm a bit player.
   
   However, in the last month, my page views, which had been around 1,000 per day until January 2012 when they sank to maybe 200 per day, are creeping back up to 800 or 900 per day. I guarantee you, that's got nothing to do with deleting a few non-performing hubs. I have no idea what it has to do with, but certainly not cutting out a couple of non-performers.
   
   I love this mystery. We can speculate until we are blue in the face.

   I am way too new to delete '50 or so' hubs.  If deleting old hubs helps, then that's something we should do.  It's that thing where you don't really need to know how a combustion engine works, you just need to know how to drive a car.
