   Remember in 1999, they said that when the year 2000 comes around the computers will fail, elect. will be turned off etc... because the computers didn't have the year 2000. So what happened on that day? Nothing.........big disappointment.
   
   So what do I expect is going to happen in Dec 2012? The same, nothing.
   The world will end when we die, and that will only happen to that person, the rest of us will have to muster on.
   
   I have to admit though, some strange things have been happening as of late. Earth Quakes in New England? Warmest weather in ages, New fangled illness popping up. What about that comet coming? It’s going to be the brightest thing in the sky when it comes. 
   
   Maybe not the end of the world, but a shake up

      Oh yeah! The Millennium Bug! I remember that. Even at the time I thought it was stupid because when I first purchased a computer in 1998, the calendar range was from 1900 to 2020. So, when everybody started panicking, I kept thinking 'What's the problem, if my computer can recognise the changing of a century, surely every other computer can.'
      
      The world will only truly end when the sun expands into a red giant in billions of years time and consumes the Earth. Of course, there's always the possibility of a massive asteroid destroying the Earth, but that's very remote because of the gravitational pull of larger planets such as Jupiter.

   Around and around it goes.  I've been on this planet long enough to have witnessed oh, so many "end of the world" predictions, which of course, never come to pass. It is an unknowable event, from our perspective.
   
   In fact, just yesterday (10-27-12), I was reading a news article about all the scientific reasons that such predictions are pure hogwash on so many levels.
   
   But, I have come up with my own explanation for the popular "Mayan Calendar" scenario.  Their calendar ran in cycles that were made up of huge blocks of time; obviously running far past their own lifetimes.  As the cycle came to an end, a new calendar for the next block of cycles would be made.
   The Mayan calendar came to an end because their civilization ended, thanks to the Spanish conquistadors! 
   There's no spooky mystery there.  The Mayans were slaughtered and/or captured and hauled off to be made virtual slaves of these foreign terrorists.  End of story, end of mystery, so much for the 'end of the world prediction' based on their calendar.

      Global warming,ozone depletion all are made by man and he will have to suffer for it unless we do something..........but surely there is no end of the world thingie:)

   That Millennium Bug thing was really great.....
   
   Everyone ran around and stocked up on the things that they enjoyed and may have to do without...
   
   I got into all sorts of strife when I came home with 5 years stock of girlfriends! 
   Apparently I was only supposed to water and food! 
   
   The biggest problem we overlook is the one that everyone for some reason ignores... Solar Flares..
   They have the potential to destroy all life on earth within a heartbeat - at any time..
