Do you believe the world will end on December 21, 2012 as some say the Mayan calendar indicates?

No simple answer to this question. The earth is very old. The inhabitants change, but it remains.

The Mayan calendar doesn't indicate it. They just got bored of recording future calendars and decided to go play Starcraft.

This is your answer. Absolutely not. There will be a change in human beings understanding of who they are to the core of their being which every single human being is to the core of their being which is: You are love you are peace you are free now be love now be peace now be free. Just be it. The world after that day will begin to understand this and be this in their daily life from that time forward. You can get a head start by being this now in your life on the earth. Thank you.

"NO"! That silly Myan calendar may end but so what. We do not live by it nor is time controlled by it.

As far as I'm concern:  don't believe so. Here is why, as a muslim I believe that the World will not come to an end before several events occur. If you are interested in knowing more on what those signs are, I would suggest you follow this link:

No, but who cares, if it does, it does, and there's nowt we can do about it so why worry.  Oh, and look through the myriad of other answers for this same question that has been posted up here heaven knows how many times.

The Mayan calendar never said the earth will end on December 21, 2012.
The Discovery Channels and their boffs said it would by copying what is written in the bible and hybridizing the info to seem real.

Rather read the bible and see when it will take place though,

Yes as states in the Mayan calendar the world will end in 2012. That's why me and a group of people are getting togethor to travel back in time to the 1990's. Seinfeld, Friends, Playstation 1: Here I come!

I thought the date was supposed to be December 12, 2012.

12/12/2012  But I could be wrong.  Anyway, no I don't believe any of that.

    Irbee,

I don't believe the world will end, personally. I can tell you something true and vague, though: Something big will certainly happen.

If anything, something dramatic will occur precisely because people have been expecting this date for generations. Our antsy-ness, hyperactivity, and brilliant speculation will self-fulfill with no other variables at work.

Who knows? Tomorrow you could die. I hope not. But live like it's your last day anyway—that's the cheesy lesson we should take away, up until that date.

    Thanks for the question,

    Dan

No the world will not end.  The Mayan calendar will start over again just like the western calendar will.  We call it Jan. 1st. and it will run for 12 months not centuries.

No one knows the date or time. Just live each day to the fullest and as if it's your last because we just never know.

I do not believe the world will end...... but everything prior to Dec 21, 2012 will be classed as history from the 22nd on. LOL

There may be some influence to the world as we know it due to the planets lining up. Science has proven that planetary alignment will happen on that date.

The moon influences tides and emotions... so why not the planets? What that influence will be - I look forward to experiencing.

I'm not a particularly religious person in so far as I keep what I believe mostly between myself and I: I remember dates in the past that were forecasted as the end of the world. They obviously didn't occur. I don't like to think of the world ending: but it ends every day for many of us.
Perhaps like others have already pointed out. The world ending is as we know it. That can also mean 'change'. Meaning the end of something but the beginning of something else.
Sorry! long winded answer. I guess I'm saying no!

It could end in the next few minutes. There is nothing we can do about it. We could however just enjoy each moment of each day as a gift from our creator. For me that would be God.

I'm more worried by the solar maximum that will occur in 2011 - scientists are predicting that it is going to be much more of an event than previous occurences: like the maximum that took out North Eastern Canada's power grid in 1989. (If this were to happen on a global scale it would take more than 10 years to replace all the giant transformers needed to operate the power stations around the world.)

What makes this event even more worrying is the fact that it will be occuring at a time when the polarity of the Earth's magnetosphere - which protects us from the harmful effects of solar radiation - appears to be on the move: it shifted 3 degrees in December last year.

We will be entering uncharted waters in 2011 - let us all hope that we make landfall: in 2012, relatively unscathed.

I think it already did for the Mayans and Aztecs.  The world as they knew it is no more.  Indeed, I was born in 1948, 62 years ago, and the world as I knew it then is no more as well.  Comercial planes had props, there was no internet, TV was just on the horizon, record palyers played vinal and now our collectors peices.  I will not, however, discount the possibility of a horrendous disaster taking place around then, we will just have to see.

NO,and NO again.I will tell you why.Because there is prophecies that have yet to be fulfill before the 2nd coming. You cannot AND WILL NOT see the FLOWER...BEFORE you see the BUD.There is a PROCESS of predestination that will not allow one thing to take place, before the another one is COMPLETED.What is about to occur to the spirits of humankind is the fulfillment of Daniel 12 v 4 a spiritual INCREASE of Knowledge ABOVE a material and scientific increase of technology.

Well, its not only Mayans even Indian tribes and Chinese astrologers have something special to say about 2012.
But till now no one said its going to be the END. What they have predicted is there will be a total change in whatever is happening.
The World is in the transition now from dark age to Light age and this transition will start to be at maximum around 2012. The universe is vibrating in a higher frequency we are all going to live in 5D lifestyle. So in order to make us comfortable in this transition we should open ourselves and accept the higher frequency which is only love.
