Why does my hub show 0 page views for the last 24 hours?

   There are three or four comments(one is at 24 hours so it may not count.) How could I have 0 page views if people are reading it and even stopping to comment?

      You know, I'm so glad you mentioned it.   I have been wondering about the number of views being audited because a few days ago, one of my articles had slideshow views of 28 and then all that just vanished into thin air!

         Stranger and stranger. After you mentioned this I looked again and found that one of the search engines (yahoo) is reporting  -3 visitors. Is that even possible?

            And now you have shed some light on the problem!
            
            Sometimes stats get stuck and it then becomes apparent it is a site-wide problem.
            
            Eve as a newbie I occasionally saw negative views showing up on stats.
            
            And those happened even when stats were not stuck, and no-one could explain it.
            
            I am assuming that those issues happen when HP has a little hiccup (to put it nicely) and that they will sort  out over a 24 hour period.
            
            We have to trust HP and that they are not conning us. We have Google Analytics at our disposal to check.
            
            HP has repeatedly said that we will see all views, just not all the earnings because they get 40%
            
            Missing views will show up again; little glitches happen.

               Thanks IzzyM. I also posted a question that you might be able to address. If I edit a hub that is already active in the search engines, does it go back to idle status? You had made a comment about this on another thread and since then I have been hesitant to edit my old hubs, as well as the new which I think are not going to be submitted to the search engine for an even longer period of time (after editing).

                  I know you actually asked Izzy this, but to speed up the time it takes you to get an answer I thought it was worth me answering you. If you edit a hub that is 'featured' as in 'not in Idle' it immediately goes live again. If you edit a hub that is Idled it takes about 24 hours to go live again, and if you edit it again whilst it is 'pending', it will take a further 24 hours to go live again because you effectively reset the clock.

                        lol, no worries Izzy. By the way, I just read your answer above too and noted that you mentioned a 'yellow star' as being a sign the hub is featured. I don't get a yellow star, I get a tiny greenish/yellowish square next to the featured hubs. Are you getting something different, or is it just the way you have described it? I can understand the colour could be considered as green or yellow, but definitely can't see it as a star shape.

                           I see it as a yellow star, but now you come to mention, it is greenish and might well be a square, but to those of us with poorer vision it appears to be star-shaped.

                              I am meant to wear my glasses for night driving and reading. I have to say they annoy me to wear, so mostly I leave them in the car and don't wear them for reading. On the occasions that I do I immediately see things far more clearly. I blame too many hours on the computer for being the cause of my sight problems now (things are definitely blurred when I am reading signs or newspapers). Ironically my eyes are so used to focussing on the distance to my computer screen that I actually see the text on it perfectly clearly so I don't need glasses for it.

                  If you edit a currently featured hub, and by featured I mean it has that little yellow star beside it, then nothing happens.
                  
                  Featured means it is active in the search engines.
                  
                  It is always good to update. Google likes it.
                  
                  However, do not update a hub that has the pending status symbol beside it as this will extent its pending time.
                  
                  Pending hubs are not visible to search engines.
                  
                  It might be a typo you have spotted, or a tag you could change, or an extra capsule that could be useful....no matter!
                  
                  Don;t touch that hub until you see the featured symbol.

                     Thank you both. I have several comments at the bottom of my Macho Dog Names hub and I want to add them to the hub. I published it about 35 hours ago so it is now featured and as I understand it would be safe to edit.
                     Misty, are you publishing now on another site? I am following you but never see your articles in my feed?

                        I haven't written on here since about March this year, mostly because I actually have very little faith in HP any more, and have reservations as to if it will still be here in a years time looking at the traffic gradually falling site wide month after month. I am now working on my first ebook, but also have articles on Wizzley, This is Freelance, Xobba and my own vegetable growing website. This is why you haven't had me come up in your feed, and to be honest unless HP suddenly become very popular with Google again I doubt I will publish here again. I leave the articles I have on here for now because I do earn a small three figure monthly income from the HP Ad program, (albeit less than half of what it was a year back.) If the site does go under all of my hubs are 'backed up' using Firefox's Scrapbook, and I would simply republish them on another site that is doing reasonably well, e.g. Squidoo, Wizzley etc etc.

                           Thanks for the reply. I remember when you hit 3million views a few months back so if you are concerned we should all be. I save all of my hubs also, just in case something were to happen, but at this point am satisfied so hope nothing does make the site go down.

                              From what I recall when I hit 3,000,000 views I was getting over 10,000 views a day, now I am lucky to get 3000. Some days during the week it is more like 2500. Traffic is falling for the site overall sadly, and no matter what HP try to do it seems the Google love for them has gone.  I now have far more faith in making money elsewhere rather than continually hoping that this site can rise from the ashes. A shame as I really did love this place, and at one time it was a great place to make money as well as enjoying the community.

         Western, NY, Dr Mark, Allegany County. We're getting the wind and some heavy rain. The net keeps going on and off, but that's to be expected with HughesNet.
         
         The stats update was my only answer. Hopefully a real HP guru will come along with more information. Maybe the gremlins are eating your views?

               Could be because your Hub showed up in their Feed, and they commented directly from the Feed, rather than clicking on and navigating to your Hub to comment.

                     I'm probably not the person to ask... but I wouldn't think so. If that were the case, everytime someone visited HubPages, and your Hub happened to be recent enough to show up in the Feed, it would count as a view on your Hub, even if they didn't scroll down far enough to see it, or they were only there for a split second to check their notifications. We'd all get astronomical views for brand new Hubs, I think, if that were the case.
