   I needed to buy clothes for a funeral two weeks ago.  I seldom shop in mall's, because frankly I can't afford to and still travel.  The latest fashions are not my fashions. So when I went to the mall the only sort of traditional department store was Sears. Even though I am not a fan of Sears I found something for the whole family. 
   We have been taught to hate corporations.  Since retail stores are corporations many of us interact with daily lets all cheer over their demise of Retail Stores. Or should we come to a sudden stop and reconsider the brain washing we have been given.  Does your town have store that have been vacated by stores like J.C. Penney's?  There is a reason.

      We have a J.C. Penny’s within walking distance of here, but our community also has at least one empty mall. From what I have hear upward to 80% of small businesses (if you include restaurants) close within the first two years. In the local strip wall here I have watched so many come and go that it is hard to count. The ones that survived do so because they fill a need. The ones that failed (IMPO) fail because of the three reasons.
      1.    Bad management: this includes mismanagement, embezzlement, and poor leadership.
      2.    The Wal-Mart conundrum. People say they want to buy American and local (small business), but given a choice people will choose the item that costs the less (upfront cost not actual cost).
      3.    Finally you have relevance. I think the movie “Other People’s Money” said it best. In a meeting the employees of a wire cable company spoke of how the economy of the town was built on the company. Danny DeVito’s character spoke about how they were the best in a market that was ending. “You know, at one time there must've been dozens of companies making buggy whips. And I'll bet the last company around was the one that made the best #$%^*^ buggy whip you ever saw. Now how would you have liked to have been a stockholder in that company? You invested in a business and this business is dead” (Lawrence Garfield: Danny DeVito).
      Most of the people who wear suits and dress clothes today go to a tailor while most others don’t dress like that anymore. Business casual has become business standard.

   In our part of Texas -- Walmart, Target and K-Mart have pretty well usurped all the "mom and pop" stores I enjoyed shopping in -- remember when customer service was the "in" thing? Off track here BUT has anyone successfully followed the suggestion of "buying American?" I, for one, am finding it nearly impossible -- in any still existing retail store! Excellent question -- and I'm a huge Sears fan!

   It's saddening to see all the mom and pop stores in the UK disappearing from our smaller malls and high streets.  Some have received a boost this week due to all the additives and horse meat appearing in the Supers.  But this is mainly small grocers and butchers.  Gift shops, card shops, small electrical retailers and all the rest are folding up their tents and going no one knows where.  Meanwhile, this lying government tells us all is well and unemployment is decreasing when we can see it's all lies.  They just continue to steal from the taxes to support banks, insurance companies and all the other thieving cancer of a sick society.  We continue to print money to exist and there can be no long term hope for Britain without, perhaps, a great cleansing...

      Bob, good to see you.  We are seeing a resurgence of small stores in our town.  They subsidize their overhead with on-line sales.
      Not all is lost. The young people are the best hope we have and they are beginning to wake up to the cruelty of big government.
        I  bless all the folks that like to shop then donate to second hand shops.  I wouldn't have a thread to wear without those lovely people.
