When I complete and publish a hub, I am usually proud of my work and can't wait to show it off. Kind of like birthing a baby, you want the whole world to know.
When I publish a hub, I usually immediately copy and paste the link to several places such as Facebook, twitter, Pinterest and Google+.
Usually, people start to stop by, read and leave comments.
I wrote a hub once on How Frida Kahlo Used Art Therapy
<link snipped>
I post this hub in an Art Therapy group on Facebook. I did not know it would cause such a debate among my art therapy colleagues. Some believed she did not use art therapy because she did not have a trained art therapist supporting her, therefor her creative expression to heal her trauma through art could not be called art therapy. Some believe that is a ridiculous point.
This debate shot my hub views to 1,000 in one day. I was telling my friend and she said too bad my Adsense was not turned on! I didn't even realize, my hub was so young not even 24 hours from when I posted it, I was not making any money on all the views.
So now.... I wait 24 hours, or until the Adsense is turned on before I post to social media.
Has anyone else figured this out?
I wrote another hub on art therapy, and caused interest in the art therapy community again. This time when I posted it my Adsense was on, and I made money for all those views.
Important information! Why not wait and get that extra money? Thanks for the information; I wouldn't have thought of it.
Hi Carly I have never seen 1000 page views from a new Hub, but I have noticed what you are talking about so I just wait one day, until my new Hub has been featured, and then pin and tweet it. I do not use FB, but maybe I should!
I get few views from HP so am not worried about the loss of income that first day. The second days views are usually quite a bit more, however.
It was the first time it ever happened. That was why I was so shocked.
What I do is post to social media immediately or soon after I publish a completed hub. Then the "composition teachers" decide whether or not to "feature." Google Adsense gets included immediately, based on the teacher's judgement. Just like traffic. I believe what they are trying to do is cut down on Google Adsense fraud (invalid clicks) and at the same time eliminate Spam so that the internet will be rid of all of the things that annoy people and protect legitimate businesses at the same time. Be patient.
This may take time, but you've got to trust somebody ... I would say just keep writing the best content you can and just let things happen. There are so many article spammers, video spammers and spammers concerning all aspects of this great internet. That's a lot of accounts and people they must review to make the final determination as to whether or not it is spam. And I'm sure Google has had a rough time with determining invalid clicks (that could run a huge loss for legitimate businesses)....You've got to get into the SPIRIT of the internet...not just try to make a quick buck by spamming and stealing (or even committing grand larceny).
It used to be learn by trial and error...but now they are trying to guide honest people as to how to properly go about it (make money on the internet). It's almost a relief...remember hackers and people who invade your projects...Eventually the internet will be more secure for everyone (actual work at home, pay bills...find friends...all kinds of things...the possibilities are almost endless). So just be patient and cooperate with what the "big boys" are trying to accomplish for EVERYONE'S security and benefit.
For what it's worth, if a Hub gets a LOT of social media traffic before a Hub's Pending period has passed, we insert ads early so the Hubber won't miss out on significant revenues.
Hi Carly..;what do you mean by Adsense on or off? I also publish my hub links right away and gett lots of views...but no adsense clicks...however I do earn with Hubpages advertising system....
Thanks!
If you look at your hub just as soon as you publish it (before it is featured, and it still has those pending arrows next to it) you will notice that there are no ads at all. In that first 24 hours (more or less) you are not earning anything from the HP advertising system.
I've decided to wait until I get an AdSense account before posting on social media. Social media engagement takes effort and so does writing. It's a matter of focusing on getting that account up and going so I can take advantage of the ads.
hi Carly, this is an important information, i have never thought about it before. i also do the same thing as you, but perhaps now i believe i have to wait, thank you so much
Personally I like to wait until the hub is no longer pending before I share it on social media, but the downside to doing that is I often forget to share it later on.
I have never thought about it in terms of adsense, but now that you mention it, it's probably a good idea to wait until you have the adsense turned on. So yes, I would agree about waiting for that reason as well.

Should I wait until my score is over 75 before I publish my 1st hub?I've read so much about these scores and their significance. Would I really be wasting my time to publish while my score is only 70?

I've been online for almost 4 years, 2 1/2 of which have been spent writing for HP. There are a few thoughts I would like to share with my fellow writers that I feel might be helpful to them.First, we should never forget that behind all of the figures are real people. People who seek...

A couple years ago in 2011, I had a hub on another account that went up to 5000 views rapidly. Eventually it waned to about 1000-1300 views. Now after a couple years it gets about a few hundred views a day astonishingly. Would that hub be defined as "going viral?" I know it's not...

Is it possible to "0" out the number of views just before we publish a HUB?
