Can I begin an article with a poem about topic?  If not, where is the best place to put the poem?  I will use keywords in title of poem and photo next to poem. I don't have a good feeling about this layout. Suggestions please.

Just curious... is it an original poem or a quote?

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to begin a hub with a poem...  If your hub is going to be mostly non-creative writing, you'll want to put it in whatever topical category it goes in and it will be rated on the normal ratings... if it is mostly creative writing listed it as so and it will be rated on the creative writing rubric.

Personally, I think poems and quotes make great additions to non-creative hubs and can often add substance.

I had a great hub based on the quotes of Helen Keller, CS Lewis and Mother Teresa, unfortunately it was a little heavy handed in the quote dept. I guess and it wasn't accepted. <sad face>

Simey gave me a great suggestion with one of my hubs. He suggested that I add more informational text so that it's more about the topic and place the poem in a right aligned text box as a feature. It worked out pretty well for my article about red flags in unhealthy relationships. I tried it with others as well. You just have to make sure you have enough content and other capsules to fill the hub and avoid white space. WryLilt turned me on to getting rid of white space. That was awesome advice from her.

I think I cant post the link here, but it's one of the favorite things Ive written, maybe cause part of it was written by amazing ppl. It's called Quoting the Giants I think if you want to click on the link for blogspot on my page. It doesn't seem to me like it is un-post-worthy, but then I always think that. lol

It is an original poem with-non fiction article. The article is about 850 words long with the poem a tribute. Thanks.
