My bounce rate @ GA seems very high...70%.  Can someone explain what page interaction is ??
Can a pageviewer READ a  whole article and NOT be an interactive visitor??

And how high are your bounce rates ??

92%, Really? May be your viewers get overexcited, and can't decide which of your hubs they will read first. My bounce rate is 23.53%.

They only ever see one hub, usually. 95% of my traffic is from Google and Pinterest. Seeing as you have less than 1,000 views, most of yours are probably internal smile

That's reassuring. I've been trying to figure out why my bounce rate is so high for a long time.

I think visiting your own hubs counts as a visit. You don't spend much time on the hub while editing, that's why high bounce rate.
What are your main traffic sources?

Article sites like HP always have a high bounce rate.  That is because if a reader comes from Google they might go to another hub, but it might not be your hub.  Few Google searchers actually care about profiles etc.

The time spent on page is possibly more important.  I've been told that what you see on the Google analytics dashboard is not real (mine is exceedingly short).  Apparently the high bounce rate confuses Google analytics.  If you drill down into your content you will get the "dwell time" for each hub.  My numbers here are better, minutes rather than seconds.

I would say that if a reader spends a few minutes on a page then you have engagement going on.

There are tricks such as adding videos, a lot of good pictures, polls etc. that might work to keep readers longer on the page.

Sunforged mentioned that bounce isn't correctly measured on sites like Hubpages, too.

Thanks for the info about "time on page." I've had situations where I KNOW people were reading my hubs and taking the time to comment but the "time on page" was nearly zero. I will try to figure out how to access the information on dwell time.

I was wondering about this and whether an HP page just normally has high bounce rates; I'd been paying more attention to time on page too, because I'd read some time ago that it's more significant.

"Leave without interacting" is a bounce according to GA. So what is the definition of INTERACTING with a Hub ARTICLE...
            1. Simply scrolling down the page.
            2. Using a Poll or Quiz function
            3. Moving on to a second Hub
            Anybody really know?
And if editing counts as a page view ??

As far as I know, going to another page, on a different domain/subdomain after viewing only 1 page is officially a bounce.  To avoid a bounce you need to have somebody read at least 2 of your pages.

However, there are good bouces and bad bounces.  Somebody hitting the "back" button immediately after arriving on your page, and checking out other Google results is a "bad bounce".  Somebody spending some time on your page, then clicking a link to go somewhere is not a bad bounce.

Editing does count as a page view, because you have to view the page before you hit the "edit" button and then after you're done with editing you view the page again.

However, if you are getting any useful traffic, your edits will be an miniscule part of your overall traffic.  To earn anything useful you are talking about 500-1000 views a day.  How many hubs were you planning to edit on a daily basis?

If you are getting so little external traffic that your own views are important, you have more serious problems than the bounce rate.

If you are very new and have very few hubs, you might of course have very little traffic.  I would suggest not worrying too much about the bounce rate, if that is the case, just writing more high quality hubs and learning about finding good topics to write about.

The first three are definitiely interacting with a page, but I don't think editing counts unless it is done in a live setting -- even then I doubt it for terms of revenue.

Now, that I am out of boot camp, I have a ton to learn about the business side of online writing.

I don't know how the "bounce rate" is calculated, but my stats show that I have a 6 min 2 seconds Avg. Session Time with a bounce rate of 51.95%.
