Here is an annoying problem. I needed a certain photo, and had my daughter take it for me, of her child. (To re-create something she herself had done at that age.)
She took the photo with her cell phone, and it came to me in e-mail, oriented sideways.
I opened photoshop, rotated the photo to the correct orientation, and saved it.
When I uploaded it to my article, it again showed up sideways!!!
There is no utility on the HP edit mode for photo capsules that will allow me to fix this. What is going on? How do I remedy this problem?
After you re-positioned it on Photoshop, did you first try saving it to your computer right-side up before transferring it to HP?
Did you just save it, or did you save it as a different file name?
I saved it as an overwrite of the original. Is that the problem? I need to do a "save as" ...??
ok--will do-- thanks.
I had her rotate it on her end, and re-send--it STILL arrived sideways!
OK, weird. That didn't work, either. When I did the 'save as,' it simply showed up rotated back the other way. I then tried deliberately re-rotating it to the opposite sideways rotation, and that time, it uploaded straight! Way weird!
BTW--how do I credit that photo. I didn't take it, but my daughter took it at my request specifically for the article.
Do I just put her name, and do I need "used by permission," or do I put that it was basically a consignment, or what?
There is no set way to credit personal photos, which is what this is. If your daughter wants credit, by all means use her name. If you are worried about HP asking questions, then I would add the words "with permission" to make it clear.
You could always put her name in the source line.
That's what I did... also added 'by permission,' just to be safe.

Is it possible to make photographs show up smaller? I have found that sometimes the photos become a bit pixelated and generally take up too much room on my web pages, and would like a facility to alter the size and placement, like you can on some other sites. You can see what I mean with this...

I just spent a lot of time on this hub; I did my research, cited my sources as usual, and published it yesterday with a rating of 70. However, it no longer says it is pending and it is not featured. I was wondering if someone can look it over, and possibly tell me why?...

I have an account at Shutterstock, where I submit photos for use, and which pays (will pay, once I'm established) when someone wants to use my images. They are as strict as HP when it comes to copyright, and also posting personal information.I am having a bit of a battle with them on two...

HubPages is very firm in their rule to only use photos for which you have permission to use. Hypothetically, what happens if you break this rule? I've seen many people using images that are clearly not theirs to use and I was just wondering if this affects them in any way...

Has anyone at Hubpages ever received a bill for using an Artist's work or a Photographer's Photo on a a hub? And if so, how much? I'm curious, because I've written to artists about twenty five times during my time writing here to ask permission to use a photo, and not one of them ever...
