Do away with random keyword product selection in the retail capsules

   Given that relevancy is the name of the game, and unrelated products has to be a burden on the moderators, it seems like it could be extremely worthwhile to remove the random keyword product selection option from the retail capsules. 
   
   When you consider how items must be added only 1 per capsule, the random selection doesn't even make the sense it did when you could have a few items per capsule.  Capsules for which a specific items has not been selected could be set to not show on the Hub, thus solving any issues with people who add capsules but don't understand the entire process.  Those would then show if the settings were finished.

      This idea has merit, but doing it could create a lot of work because when a specific item "runs out", writers must go back into their hubs to choose new ones.  With carefully worded keywords, there is less chance for items to disappear. 
      
      I do think it would be good if the team could somehow not show unrelated sales items, but I imagine this would be complex to set up technologically.

      I think the keyword feature for choosing products is efficient and works for certain subjects and products. I'd rather they kept the feature. It's easier than tracking down a product that is easier found with the keyword feature and the keywords are relevant and pin-point the right product. Plus, a specifically chosen item could run out of stock and then you have nothing in the capsule.

   HubPages can tell us when we have a broken link on our Hubs, and that makes it very quick and easy to just go fix.  Links that no longer work between Amazon and HubPages should be just as easy to detect and report.
   
   Although, if that were going to happen, it would be really important if somehow HubPages could eliminate product searches that don't serve images.  That's annoying when you put in a product URL only to find that part's conked and you have to find a new product.

   Nate, if there's one thing that is a constant on this site, it's changing a bunch of Hubs.  If that's putting you off, you better go read the recent blog post about mobile traffic and layout. 
   
   When people use eBay capsules to add products to a  hub on disciplining your child and then are displaying martial arts shoes because they just use the keyword selection, that means that feature needs fixing. 
   
   It's clear HubPages is unwilling to even temporarily hire on moderators to deal with their backlog of crap content still accessible on this site, they're just going to get to it as they get to it, and it's clear they really think just hiding poor content from Google by unfeaturing it is enough when in fact it's way too visible to anyone who actually reads the site.
   
   HubPages just seems to hire engineers.  Ok fine, but if that's how they're going to be, this means the tools need to be smarter to deal with this.  If they want to flag and moderate their way out of the muck, old-school grunt work that works, they need more mods.

      If it will help the site, I'm all for it. I'd rather go through and fix Hubs than have something damage the site.
