I've grazed an Amazon image three times now (i.e. not clicked intentionally) and LOST EVERYTHING in long and complicated updates of different recently transferred hubs - because the site has jumped to Amazon.
It's getting very frustrating and I'm walking away for a while as there's very definitely a limit to how many hours you can waste in one day!
It's almost got to the point where it would be easier to transfer the content to another site where there's a need to update a lot on one page.
This was not a problem in Squidoo because everything was saved as you wrote - hence grazing an Amazon module and creating a jump you didn't intend was a very minor irritant - you just back tabbed and carried on as before
This is NOT possible in HubPage as it requires you to save everything to keep it.
Dear Paul - Would it be possible to:
* change the code for the Amazon module so that the ONLY thing which triggers a very fast transfer to Amazon is if somebody clicks on the title or the buy now button?
* Or maybe make the link open in a new tab so I don't lose the hub which is being worked on?
I don't care what it is so long as an inadvertent move doesn't lose a lot of hard work.
ANYBODY ELSE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM?
Hubpages saves the content as you type and if your hub is public the bad part is that it's all reflected before you completely edit the hub, so when there's moving of modules etc it may look bad for people visiting in that timeframe.
I've never had problems writing in the amazon capsules either. Hovering over the image won't take you to amazon. You're probably clicking or have some bug that's doing it for you.
Bear in mind that one of the reasons for acquiring Squidoo was their Amazon module
I'm guessing whatever has happened in the past may no longer be relevant - but that's just a guess.
You could click (inadvertently or deliberately) in ANY PART of the Amazon module on Squidoo and you'd be instantly transported to Amazon - however everything you had been doing on the lens was still in place and it wasn't published.
What I'm experiencing is an Amazon module on HubPages which behaves as if the Squidoo "save" functionality is in place - when it's not.
The reason I'm saying this is because the changes made during editing the hub for the transfer are simply not there when I get back into the hub after the brief and inadvertent trip to Amazon when I didn't want to.
I'm not sure why you're visiting products in the same tab while editing in the first place.
From what I understood you're saying it went there automatically when you hovered. I edited a hub with amazon capsules recently and modified descriptions etc with no issues. Even hovered over the images I'm sure.

I'm not trying to visit products at all. I am having to edit Amazon capsules and associated text modules because of the way the content has translated on the transfer.
I'm losing a LOT of work in updating hubs because an inadvertent click - which was not on the title or the Buy Now Button sent me off to Amazon
When I back track to the hub all the work done on making changes has gone.
I can only assume that the Amazon capsule on HubPages now works in the same way as it did on squidoo i.e. the whole surface of the capsule is live to clicks (ie not just the button or the title of the product) - increasing exponentially the scope for an inadvertent click to trigger an exit from the hub - and the loss of all the work done which had NOT been saved.
Or can you come up with an alternative explanation as to why I'm being transported to Amazon and losing lots of work?
The fact it hasn't happened to you doesn't alter the fact it's now happened to me three times.
Plus I know it has happened to others because of comments in other places - so I'm certainly not alone in experiencing a problem.
I mean moving my cursor across the capsule when I'm intending to click in any another part of the hub - and the click inadvertently happens in the Amazon capsule - because the cursor wasn't where I thought it was.
So Grazing as in "a little nip" - an unintentional click in the wrong place - as opposed to "a full on bite" i.e. making a deliberate decision to click a button
It's a method of coding used on some sites to make a large space live which then forces you to go to places you didn't want to i.e. there is no indicator for deliberate intent (eg a button) and no filter for unintentional faltering in the use of a mouse! You see it a lot with newspaper advertising where you have to fight to get away from their desire to get you to click their site
Katherine, do you use an ad blocker? If not, you might want to install one, and turn it on while you're editing. It will turn off your Amazon products, showing just the capsule header. It would then be impossible for you to click your products in error.
I have the reverse problem: I use an ad blocker, and have to remember to turn it off before editing, because Amazon products don't show up when I'm adding them.
I normally have an adblocker on all the time - and it wasn't a problem at Squidoo because of course we could all see the Amazon products even with adblock on.
However I'm having to do the reverse on HubPages and turn the ad blocker off so I can see the Amazon content and see what has happened to the Amazon module and associated text content - re placement, how to move text etc etc.
That's when the problem re getting thrown out of the hub is happening.
I'd happily have the ad blocker on - so long as I can see the Amazon content and so long as that capsule didn't behave as if the whole surface is live

Is there a balance of Amazon products on a page that makes a hub overly promotional? Or is it dependent on the individual hub (over and beyond the 50 words per product)?

In many previous forum posts there have been people who have given up hope with their Ebay and Amazon capsules on their hubpages, because they don't earn any money from them, some have even removed the capsules from their hubs. I don't really make much money from either but I keep the capsules on...
