Freelance writing website setup

   I'm in the process of setting up my freelance writing website.  What do most of you believe is the best platform?  Wix, wordpress, blogger, other?

      I use Hostgator for hosting and Wordpress for my site.  Hostgator has phenomenal customer service.  I've learned a ton about being my own webmaster from them.  The free templates from Wordpress look amateurish.  I just purchased  a template from Hostgator's marketplace (Mojo) that I absolutely love.  It's perfect for my site.

      Define freelance writing website. When I see this two things come to mind:
      
      (a) A website where you want to advertise yourself as a freelance writer where people can contact you privately.
      
      (b) A commercial website where you will post jobs so that clients will meet contractors much like Elance etc.
      
      If your answer is (a), then any good blog will do the trick. You can use Blogger, it's free and you can monetize it. Wordpress.com is free but you can't monetize it.
      
      If your answer is (b) then you will need good hosting with a proper domain name. You have several options. (1) You will need a good application to build the front page, then add a client management application where you will post jobs and have clients and contractors sign in. (2) Have the website professionally built for that purpose or, (3) purchase one of the platforms that were designed for that purpose.

   It would depend on what you are looking for from a host, so check them all out carefully, and see which has the most of your requirements.
   
   Personally, I prefer Wordpress, through the .org site, not the .com site, so I supply my own hosting.   This gives more freedom of what to have on the site.

   I've read that Wordpress is good, too. I haven't started writing there, though.

   I had a website with Blogger but found it quite difficult to navigate at times. I have closed that and in the process of setting up another with Wix. It seems quite good so far and has a lot of aps etc.

      Sorry to take so long to get back to you.
      
      Okay, a blog would do the trick. It would be good to get your own domain name and point it to blogger or use a hosted Wordpress site like I do. You can visit (caroleesamuda.com) to see my own blog. I am slowly changing it into a site to do with writing. The front page is static and I am adding pages. The blog is accessed by a link to the menu.
