I think Editor's Choice hubs change our URLs in some manner. When the program was first started, I was required to be in it, due to being in the Apprenticeship Program.
So - my question is - had the original URL I may have had been retained in some manner in Google? Or am I starting out from scratch as though they are new URLs? I opted out of EC but some URLs are not reflecting that choice. Not sure what to do. I have several dozen hubs labeled that way. I have no idea what iterations the URL would have gone through to become EC and now to remove that designation.
If anyone knows how opting out after a few years will affect my content, please let me know?
I'm not sure if this answers your question, Marcy but I notice the hubber's name is eliminated from the URL when they become editor's choice. Try Googling yourself and see if your EC hubs come up.
Good idea, Bravewarrior - I believe that's how they were styled. My main question is what it will do to my hubs being indexed if I shift out of EC and to my regular HP name & url. I'm wondering if Google has to find me all over again.
*sigh*
Your old URL never disappeared, traffic from it was 301 redirected to the new one.
Thanks, Marisa - that is helpful to know - I'm experimenting with how things work in one system vs the other. Remains to be seen.
I'm sure Paul has answered this recently in the forums. I don't recall the thread, but it was addressed. If I find it, I'll post it. I think the biggest issue is with those who already have a redirect if their EC hub was published pre- subdomains and want to opt out.
Marcy, if you scan this thread for Paul's comments, you'll see that he does address your concerns.

Previously there was Apprenticeship Program and that was closed. However, still rewards were being given to Apprenticeship Program people and also (may be) to few more hubbers for every hub they publish (Saw in a forum long back - I am sad - I could not open that program link also).I thought, soon...

Really cool to see that my hub, <link snipped>, was just picked as Editor's Choice. Can anyone tell me what it means, and maybe how to capitalize on or leverage this bump? Thanks!

Google has always been good at deleting plagiarized content that was posted on blogspot.com, which is hosted by Google. But now I have a problem... When a hub is chosen for Editor's Choice the URL is changed since it's moved to HubPages' top domain. One of my EC hubs was stolen and posted in...

I had a hub that was receiving around 1,300-1,500 views per day. It was chosen as Editor's Choice. It then dropped by about 1,000 views per day. I opted out of the program, but that hub is no longer showing in Google for the keywords that brought it all the traffic before EC messed it up. How can I...

So I'm replying to a comment on my hub and upon scrolling through the hub (I always check for errors or how I can improve), I see the related hubs section. There are five hubs there including one of mine. What immediately got my attention is that the other four hubs has "editors choice"...

A few weeks ago I posted something on the forums wondering where the feature for nominating a hub for Editor's Choice had gone. It was removed because of lack of use. Now that Editor's Choice hubs are featured much more prominently, with banners, social media promotions, HOTD...
