Afternoon
found a site, whilst not appearing to be stealing hubpages work, might be impacting on some writers' work
pitlanemagazine dot com
Seems to be posting everything that once appeared on the old Helium subdomain Lifepaths360
From what I can gather it was once a site dealing with Formula1, so I am not sure whether the info I have found for host - VegasNap (now fiberhub) - is still valid, so if anyone can confirm that I would appreciate it
How long would you think is an appropriate length of time to wait for a response from a host in regards to a DMCA request?
Ok no response from the people I think are the host.
When I do a form for Google and Bing, will they hide the whole site or just the specific pages?
There are over 100 of my articles on the site, and I can't seem to find them all on waybackmachine
The host of pitlanemagazine dot com is Digital Ocean, Inc.
Send your DMCA takedown request to abuse@digitalocean.com
You need to include each URL in the notice.
Many thanks Glenn again -
for future reference can you let me know how you found the host - I was using "whoishostingthis?" which is why I came up with VegasNAP
You are right. But there is more to it.
I also start with www.whoishostingthis.com
Then I look for the copyright agent at
http://www.copyright.gov/onlinesp/list
and I send the DMCA takedown notice to that agent.
But in this case VegasNAP is not in the government's list. I never ran into that situation before. Strange. So I took one of the DNS servernames instead.
107.170.61.46 Digital Ocean, Inc abuse@digitalocean.com
However, due to your request for details, I just did it again with the other server names and discovered that each one goes to a different hosting company. This is very unusual and actually can cause conflicting file paths for the site.
Anyway, I found several different hosts now. Here's how:
Find the IP address of the domain or DNS servername at
http://www.dnsstuff.com
Then find the host of the IP at
https://www.arin.net
Results for your infringing site:
Top domain:
104.129.176.226 VegasNAP, LLC
Agent: rob@fiberhub.com
Three DNS servernames:
107.170.61.46 Digital Ocean, Inc
Agent: abuse@digitalocean.com
107.191.99.216 RamNode LLC
Agent: abuse@ramnode.com
185.34.216.59 RIPE Network Coordination Centre
Agent: abuse@ripe.net
My advice is to try sending a DMCA notice to one at a time. If no success then try the next.
Many thanks again - comprehensive and I'll definitely be following this method in the future.
