Why some hubs have rear ends but others don't.

   I would sure like to know why some hubs have gross looking rear ends on them when others don't. I have a hub on cookbooks with some recipes and down at the bottom is the ugly rear end. It looks terrible on this hub.
   I went to another hubbers hub on cookbooks and she has food at the bottom of her hub.
   What makes the difference why she has the right kind of hubs at the bottom and I don't?

      Hubbers have brought up this issue before and we contacted Google about it to see why this keeps happening and if anything can be done (the Hubs you are seeing in that section are served by Google's recommendation engine). Google basically told us that these articles are getting the most clicks from readers and that weird and shocking images tend to do well. We want readers to click on those Hubs in order to keep them on HubPages longer reading more content, so while the images are distasteful to us and many Hubbers, Google seems confident that those Hubs are serving their intended purpose.

         Really very irritating to see these images when you really are not needing to be subjected to those  type of  distasteful  pictures.

         On the other hand Christy HP needs to remember it's not a one way street
         
         Why would any hubber want somebody to click on a gross image which takes them away from their content?
         
         HP needs to offset the increased clicks against people who are grossed out by such pictures appearing next to their content - so much so they remove content from HP.
         
         Worth a  ponder?

            They'd probably prefer it if everyone who cares about the quality of the writing and ads their writing shares space with just left quietly.
            
            I know it's hard to comprehend because it's so illogical, but HubPages seems to see hubbers only as people who use a valuable service HubPages provides rather than as the source of the content HubPages sells ads on. They don't see a need to keep writers happy because they don't feel any need to retain writers, just like Squidoo didn't. The way editing is handled and the way the TOS is worded suggest they don't understand copyright that well. They probably aren't even aware they should be thinking about how to ensure TatRing authors have had all their photo models sign releases.
            
            We're likely so totally interchangeable and unskilled in their eyes that they wouldn't care if ten percent of us left over the gross hubs which, ironically, have their ads turned off because Google won't allow ads on them.

   There's another thread where we all were discussing this. Although I understand Christy's explanation and it probably means more money for all of us, it's still disturbing. And I wonder if "the intended purpose" can have a negative effect of losing readers rather than keeping them. Oh well. I'm not one to judge.

   I know the photos you're talking about and they are disgusting. Who wants to see a photo on how to shave a "b__t, especially on a cooking hub.  There, I said it. I'm not a prude, but I wouldn't want this on my hub unless I wrote a hub on "How to shave a b__T." Come to think of it, I just might in order to see how fast HP deletes it.

      The photos are absolutely repulsive. I just saw this ad while visiting someone else's hub. Hub Pages is choosing not to block these ads, so it appears as if things are desperate at this point.

            Jesse, that's not how I understood that post. There is a function in Adsense that allows you to block offensive advertisements. If we can do this then I have to assume that an entity as large as HP has the same capabilities.

               They're advertisements, but they are also images taken from other Hubs. So HP absolutely has 100% control over if and when they appear, or whether they exist at all.
               
               I find it interesting that HP sees a few Amazon links as such a major problem but doesn't get the implications of unrelated, nasty links in other advertising.

            So what was Christy's response all about?
            
            Methinks there are two issues - both of which need to be addressed
            
            The key things re other hubs is that they MUST be relevant to the topic of the hub. That's totally within the control of HP.

               The hubs at the bottom of each hub are served by Google. I actually can't see them unless I leave my apartment complex because the ISP monopoly here blocks them like ads.

                     It's called Suite Solutions and I'm utterly delighted that it goes away later this month. The monopoly in our complex was supposed to end back in July but it's hung on. I'll have Comcast by the end of the month.

   Kylyssa you hit the nail right on the head-I just recently had ads pulled for pornographic content. I used the word uterus and the phrase "metaphoric genitalia." Although I have seen hubs with ads that read as if  written by a a third grader. I left after 4 years as I just don't write commercial hubs. Back now for less then two months I see very little has changed. Thanks for your comment it validated everything I see as well. You are dead on with the prolific copyright infringements as well.

      I just posted a link to a hub of mine about "butts" in the comments of the "how to shave a hairy butt" and the "sebaceous cyst" hubs. If they can get free advertising at the bottom of most of my hubs...fair is fair. If everyone posted links to their most offensive or loosely related hubs on these as well something may get done. Just a thought.

      This is why I'm in the process of moving and just simply deleting. I don't want someone reading one of my articles and encountering one of these ads.
