   Just want to wish all hubbers a happy fourth of july weekend...
   Don't want this forum to be a political distraction. It is the one topic we can all agree that we live in the greatest country in the world and we have the freedom like no other...
   It was given to us by our Constitution over 200 years ago, after a bloody revolution.
   Can we agree to set aside our differences and just enjoy our blessings this long weekend?

      Happy fourth! I certainly enjoy the idea of Americans of all political affiliations joining together to celebrate our independence.
      
      Unfortunately, not all of us agree anymore that America is the best country anymore (you may have seen a prevalent Facebook video talking about this). Hopefully we can overcome such ideas and celebrate the gifts we do have in our country!

         It has a lot of truth to it.
         It is also a distortion.
         If you take everything together, evaluate it objectively...
         We are the greatest nation since our founding and is still the best hope for mankind.
         That is why we are great, not that we are perfect...no country is perfect or can be perfect.
         
         We are not boasting or putting any other country down...
         We are just stating a fact.
         Who else can step up and defeat communism and fascist states of Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan?
         Who else invite immigrants from all over the world and welcome them?
         Who else are the target of all immigrants, legal and undocumented? Are they moving to Australia in droves? Or Russia or China or Japan? Or any country?
         Who else can step up and rescue people in earthquakes and landslides and tsunami around the world except for the US military?
         Who else donate money and medicine and food to the rest of the world in record numbers?
         We are the most generous of all nations.
         Who else has landed a person on the moon and returned?
         Who else has a star war missile defense system to protect innocent lives?
         Who else can go after ISIS...?

            I agree. That video used inadequate criteria to gauge the liberties and strengths our country holds, and spouted off misleading statistics. No country can be number one in every factor, and it's worrisome how popular the video got. Hopefully our nation will never let negative mindsets like that prevail.

               I couldn't help but noticed the young people in the audience that seems so clueless and taking in all that propaganda against our great country... have they been taught the basic civic lessons?
               Perhaps that is why so many polled thought socialism is a better form of government...

                  Part of the problem is that it's become "cool" to be unsatisfied with America. Of course, we still have things we can improve upon in our country, but people who aren't dissatisfied are often shunned as ignorant or naive.
