I see no evidence that they exist, yet some claim otherwise.
What say you?
Of course they exist, I am rational but wait one second just checking my pulse. Yeah I am good to go, I exist !
How do you prove this though? What is it about you that makes you rational? Is it your public profession of rationality? Can't anyone make such a profession?
It's not a profession it's a decision like was it right to release Ronnie Biggs from prison on health grounds. My mind said he committed a crime he should serve his time but the rational side of me said he was dying so what harm was he if he was was released.
Anyone with commonsense can be rational, and cosette stop your laughing girl, my rational side says you need a spanking !
So being rational is the same as having common sense?
Shouldn't rational people agree more often then?
rational people agree all the time, but being only a few, maybe you didn't notice.
No but one finds people with common sense tend to be more rational because they think before they respond. I disagree with them agreeing more often though, the rational side of them would tend to view whether the other persons view was right or wrong !
Descartes jokes! Yes!
A waitress walks up to Descartes, pours him a cup of coffee, and asks, "Would you like cream with that?"
Descartes replies, "I think not."
And disappears!
How can oneprove they are rational, isn't that like trying to prove you sane?
But really how would you even begin. Do others have to find you rational to actually be that way?Or is enough for you to believe that to be true of yourself....but then it wouldn't be rational to negate others opinions..,or would it
lol okay, what do you call a person who isn't a theist?
A theist?
Is it rational to call atheist a theist? Or is there some sort of logic behind the conundrum?
I bet rational and irrational people come up with the same answer that oppose each other. lol
Rational explanation..A is a prefix meaning not, or apart from and theist describes someone who believes in or studies God, so an Atheist would be a person who is apart from the belief in God...Ha I can be rational too.
Not exactly the point of the conundrum. But okay!
Atheist studied theism and concludes he/she is atheist. A theist studies theism and concludes he/she is a theist.
Both study a theism, both consider themselves rational, studied and within reason. Both read the same things (for sake of argument anyways) but all who have studied a theism move towards opposing sides yet both use the same methods to reach their conclusions.
Atheist have or do study a theism.
A theist however also studies a theism but does not study atheism.
....
You think you had to post the same thing twice.
They've studied it and determined they do not believe it, and are so Atheist, apart from or not partaking in the belief that God exists.
hmmm, I have been married thrice, knocks me out of the game altogether. Course, marriage is not rational now is it? Lot of people are out of it then.
Thrice, jeez man I respect you more than ever !
I was married three times as well...though I really don't count the second one it was only five months long and was really more of a very long bad date
I am just finished my first marriage, jeeez Sybil the 2nd was a long date lol, omg way to go girl I wish I had yer attitude
Just was one of those things that should not have happened. After we got married he just kind of snapped, I should have seenit coming, before we were married him lived in a nice small quite house in the woods, playing his guitar, keeping everything just so. Then he moved in with me, my 7 year old son, three cats and a ferret...it was just tomuch for him
LOL! Me too! We should start a club here ralwus--the "Three Strikes Yer Out!" Club.
I would never characterize myself as rational. I person think raionality is a defense, that it isn't even real. It's something people talk about to make themselves feel better, less frightened.
Pam, you've spawned quite a thread.
Would it help this thread to define "rational", or, is it that this thread may define it for us?
Well, my kids inherited it also and my biggest problem was I never recognized my other marriages. Now my present lovely wife makes sure I do. LOL Very strongly. hehe
Nudity is part of it too! haha And my wife has convinced me to believe in Valentines Day! How rational is that? And anniversaries too.
Health, I think your right on the ferret thing. those things are on some super steroids or something. lol
I don't believe in rational people, but I do believe in REASONABLE people.
But then, I am not rational person. I am just a heavenly body.

"I am not an atheist. I have a rational fear of God, and yet the common sense to ignore it." The Bible gives us an idea about how to be accountable for our actions, while also giving us a pair of scapegoats. On one end you have Hell (a place we go when we have sinned too much). On the...

I find most people are clueless. They say they are atheist, but can't properly form an argument as to WHY, or they say they are agnostic, with zero clue as to WHAT that is.Ignorance, above all, is our weakness. Not religion. Although ignorance and religion are good bedfellows.

Theists/Atheists: Can you compliment the opposite belief system? If you're a theist, what's something positive you could say about atheists? If you're an atheist, what's something positive you could say about theists? Please no sarcastic or passive-aggressive responses.

Is there any logical distinction between Faith & Blind Faith?? Is faith & blind faith the same thing by nature?? Is there any logic that can counter your faith?? An atheist, as we know is open to new dogmas, their science can be changed over time with the advent of new physical laws, but...

For those who are believers...Are you a theist or gnostic? Do you believe in God (Theist) or do you know there is a God (Gnostic)For those who don't believe...Same question but with the "A"...Just curious of responses...As many claim to know the "truth", I am curious how it can...
