I started off with a score of about 50 I think and since then it has plummeted down to 7. I'm can't figure out why this happened or if this is normal for a new account. All the Hubs I posted have fair ranks and I've participated a bit on the site as well.
Can somebody give me some insight into this?
Regards,
Mike
it will go up, give it time. if you have any duplicate content, that's usually a reason it plummets. stay involved, write more hubs and you'll see your score go up. you can go to the questions section and answer questions, that helps. contributing in the forum at times, commenting on other hubs, making some fans (not too many at one time) maybe join some groups. the more you participate in the site, you'll see your score go up. welcome, enjoy. it looks like you have some interesting hubs!
it's all normal stuff. Give it a week or two and it'll start to level out, but it'll go up again pretty quickly. I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's a pretty volatile affair for us newbies.
Gotcha! Good to know...I was beginning to fear that I had done something very wrong. Thanks Ray!
I would bet it's because of duplicate content. (You know which hub I mean...) Hub Pages, just like Google, does not like duplicate content.
HubScores go up over time... unless you have duplicate content, which is what I'm seeing on two of your Hubs. A sudden, downward plummet tends to be the most clear sign that you are not in compliance with the site content rules.
HubPages is going to dock you for stealing stuff from elsewhere, or for recycling your own material verbatim, and they make that plain in the FAQ and TOS.
You'll want to read http://hubpages.com/faq/
was you hub flagged for duplicate content? or have promotional links?
here is info from HP terms of service.
Your hub's content has been detected on another site and has incurred a HubScore penalty as a result. You are allowed to post content on HubPages that is also published elsewhere, like your own site or blog - but you cannot place any promotional links on that hub. Only you can see the alert message at the top of your hub and a pattern of publishing duplicate content will negatively affect your HubScore, as we like to reward authors who publish content unique to our site. It does not matter whether or not you are the original author of this content.
hope this helps if this is the case. I know someone this happened to and as soon as he started publishing more original hubs, his scores went up, and he's doing fine.

I have read how hubscore is computed but was still surprised the other day when I saw a hubscore of 1. It just is somewhat amazing to me that some hubscores are 10 or below. Don't get me wrong----I'm really not trying to be judgemental or holier than thou or anything it's just I...

I found out this morning that this site had stolen at least 2 of my hubs. The more I looked, the more I noticed that it appears every single post on the site is a stolen hub, completely copied in most cases (including the authors' names and copyright notes, ironically). I see lots of names of...

Yes, I understand, the algorithm could settle. I'm not holding my breath though. What can Hubpages do to appease Google?I can see nothing less than:- Taking out the bottom 40% of articles in terms of quality.- Pre-approving each and every article like InfoBarrel. - Removing ALL duplicate content. -...

I posted this hub about MOPS a few days ago: http://thatmommyblogger.hubpages.com/hu … S-Meeting. It took me hours to write, and I wrote it about a very personal topic. There is no chance that I plagiarized it, and I did not post it on any other site.I'm getting a duplicate...

I was on another thread and someone said many people sign up on HubPages, but very few go on to write a substantial number of quality Hubs.I wonder why this is and what HubPages can do to encourage people to stay on and improve their Hubs, which seems to be what they want. All my Hubs were recently...
