Canibeligion.
Very nice.
It is all the same, isn't it?
Apart from stubborn interpretation.
So, if it's a dog eat dog world, consider me a vegetarian. It's too frustrating when followers of Mohamjeabramhachrist all go to war with each other.
I have recently started distinguishing what I call "White Bearded God" religions from other religions. I never heard of a war between Taoists and Buddhists, for example, after all...
More importantly, Taoism, Buddhism etc., are *practices.* The point is to learn to meditate, or to be still, etc. If it turns out Buddha never existed historically, I don't think Buddhism falls: because it is the practices and teachings that matter.
Ironically, I have recently started to think that Christianity could also be one of this latter type of religion: i.e., a liberating spiritual practice or psychotherapy.
If Christians stopped debating whether Mary was a virgin, and all the rest of it, and simply treated Christianity as a symbolic system showing the way to an edified life, this would work for me.
So, the irony is that if these literalists stopped beating each other over the head about ridiculous details of "history" then their religion might actually have something good to offer.
I type slow my last statement wasn't directed at your coment but to think about it some of um do. Like Texas BBQ
Yeah maybe if people actually spent their days actually trying to live what Jesus said to do, instead of debating its history accuracy and legitimacy then things would be a little better in the world. God forbid we listen to what this carpenter said and treat each other good, that's just crazy. The ONLY WAY THAT WOULD make sense is if he was God, Yeah whatever. religion is stupid and a waste of love, heart, and good sense. I don't need a book to tell me its better to be kind then mean.
I fear I have killed the conglomerated philosophy of religion that once was this hub.
(bows in apology)
Well it is very difficult group to deal with. They range from flat earthers,l (Talibangelicals) and end with those dreaded muohamjehadistchristians, and we all know they fight like hell!

I've read so many comments on this forum by 'believers' that they possess supernatural abilities. Everything from getting advice from God on a car purchase, to personally performing miracles, to saying the name of God a certain number of ways a certain number of times to have your wishes...

Im thinking of finding a religion, you know.... something to do on my days off. But im skint, so have been trying to work out the associated costs of each one. I will go with the cheapest.Scientology is ruled out immediately as it costs 10% of everything I earn, although currently 10% of nothing is...

That's me in the corner... As someone who lost their religion a long time ago; I've recently realized how normal my spiritual story actually is. I already knew that it wasn't unusual - but 'normal'? Now that I think about it, it does seem as if the scales are tipping. More formerly-religious...

Christianity I see as the following of and the belief through faith, in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the acceptance through faith that Jesus is God.Roman Catholisism embraces most, but not all of Jesus teachings but not all, and then interjects different teachings into the Roman Catholic...

I have many friends that are conservative theologically. I tend heavily to that side of the spectrum, as well. I would classify myself a conservative evangelical. However, I've found that most of my friends tend to be right-wing conservatives when it comes to politics. I am...
