How do hubpages go about monitoring people?? Its annoys me because sometimes I see peoples hubs and think, did they just copy that from a magazine? while I spend a hour or so writing mine.
Examples are; one girl whos articles were 'news, insurance, and banking' she only looked about 18.. one of her hubs sounded very newspaperish.. It started with 'yesterday it was announced that politician yadda yadda... how would hubpages detect this when newspapers are thrown in the trash next day.
Another one is when people write about technology products.. its really got me peeved. Anyone think some people do this?
The HubPages system ranks down Hubs that have duplicated content, plagiarized or not. Only the copyright owner can file an infringement complaint so unless they do, plagiarized text will stay, albeit knocked down below original stuff.
Tom Cornett, FYI, giving credit and source does not mean you are not necessarily plagiarizing or violating someone's copyright.
well, i am of the mind that unless you can prove something, it doesn't do any good to conjecture. HubPages can detect duplicated content and hubbers themselves can find out quite easily with one of the many plagiarism checkers like copyscape.
I think it's OK if they credit the writer and source....if they use it as part of an original hub....but I would check first.
Happens all the time, at all the writing places all over the net. Hundreds of thousands of times a day original work is copied by scripts in seconds and plastered in hundreds of sites.
No use wasting your energy over it. Just do what you feel is right as far as your own writing and move on. It's not worth your time to get upset over it, cause nothing you do will stop it.
Whatever you write, whether it is on the front page of the newspaper yesterday, or old news, as long as you read it and then put it in your own words, that should be okay, as long as it is not a personal story only if it is world news or history etc.
just to clarify, I was expressing my annoyance at people who do it, I wouldnt plagiarise, i put hard work into mine
Richie,
Flag hubs if you think there's a problem and let admin sort it out.
The search engine will get them and hubpages will say duplicated on your hub, but then they will say it does not mean plagerism, so I am confused.
Duplicated means it appears elsewhere on the web, whether you wrote it or not.
In my opinion if you copy something cite the source and refer it to that particular source. But in your own words and own title.
Yeah. I have seen it over and over it is a huge, real probl;em in the writing field of todays market.
Not just here, but on other sites as well.
Everyone wants to write. But for blogs and most internet presses they simply cut and paste, re-arrange and summerize a lil bit with some of their own words. If they are really into it?
Then shabam,... a news article.

What's the hubpages view on copying free license text and passing it off as your own?Even if quoted, its duplicate content.. which I'm sure would be penalized.. but is it acceptable to do it in the first place?I was just looking at a hub by a constantly-complaining hubber - and her hub is 100%...

I check with 3 different duplicated content checkers one said 98% original the other one said 93% original then the last one said original content. Should I just resubmit my article?

I received a notice that most of the text on my hubpage that the content was duplicated. One of the articles I've written was posted on another site, but it was deleted so that article will be exclusively on hubpages. Will this affect my income that I may receive?

I noticed today that one of my best articles (that really needs a rewrite) has been duplicated on a website called PetRadars.com. They copied everything from the title to the comments, though they left out the poll and all but one photo. They list on the bottom that they duplicated the article...

Isn't possible for hubpages to implement a system where visitors can not copy and paste hubbers content on here? Surely, they could just rewrite it, however, I am sure it will turn them away more cause they can not simply copy it as easy. There's got to be a solution to this.
