Sometimes doing the right thing is the wrong choice.
As everything is computerized, there's nobody to judge what is unfair and what isn't.
This happen to everyones of us in different situations. Medical Service, Banks,Gov. offices.
    Machines everywhere.
    No heart.

For immigration it is a little bit different. It is not just computers. Here in Salt Lake City one person can decide to let this family stay for humanitarian reasons. He is fully aware of what is going on. It is not a computer. It is at the discretion of one person. The news media and the reactions to the story on local TV were very clear. These people are not from Central or South America and are for that reason treated harshly, probably because of the influence of some ICE officers from Mexican decent. Their story is real and they are in danger if they go back

Then it's far worse. No blame in the computer's system.
but don't blame Mexican descent. They're Americans, aren't they ? They learn  how to behave in there.

I guess most of them do, you are right. Some of my best friends are from Mexican decend and co workers too. It is just a few of them that do not because they want to make sure the van der Spek family does not get a preference treatment. So they decided to treat them worse. And they leave the other category of immigrants alone.

The problem is not immigration, but the welfare system.  All welfare is, is an attempt to curry favor and get people to vote the "right" way for a particular party.  It's a form of slavery.

I agree, Welfare does not enable people to fend for themselves, it only enables them to be a leech and that's just sad.

There is more...but I cannot stay to write at this point...

    I will return..........

Nothing will ever surprise me when it comes to INS.

The immigration system in America is not only arrogant and abusive it is totally irrational. They will consider you guilt until you prove your innocence; so much for the Bill of Rights

I came in 1979 as a political dissident from communist Romania and had a lot to fight with the immigration office in more than one occassion.

I just posted a few days ago on hubpages my experience with the immigration system. "Unfit to be an American" is the most absured true story anyone can imagine. The other two stories are "Deaf wall of arrogance" and "Breaking the law"; all of them true stories about my own experiance.

You had to go throught the immigration system. You were there. You know what the van der Spek family is going through. They need everybody's support. Please contact your congress man to help them, Please encourage others to do the same

I think a way to handle this is to put bounties on illegals so people can make some extra money for college and healthcare. But if you wound them you lose part of the bounty and if you should kill them you get nothing. If it happens to be a potential terrorist you get a "Bounty Bonus!"

Just a couple of quick things I have been told by immigrants in my area...

    - if you are certified in a profession that the Am Gov't deems to be of need in the US, you are automatically approved (LPN's and nurses are high on this list and they are telling me it has become a "cottage industry" in the South American countries to train people so they can immigrate immediately.

    - if you have family members here, a place to live and a secured job to go to you "go to the top of the list" for a green card.  If in turn you "purchase" a business or an option to buy the business while you are here, your "green card is then almost automatically renewed.  (I was told by some immigrants from India that it has become a "cottage industry" in many countries to change names to match a "sponsor" in America, usually someone in the US who has a business they want to franchise.

nothing illegal, nothing promised but then neither are these policies widely known by Americans.

Anmerica always had two sets of rules in respect to immigrants; the highly qualified, the inteligentia of the world are welcomed, the rest not at all.

The message that the Lady of Liberty hold dear to her heart has been long abandomed

And people think the Government can create jobs and manage a health care system when they can not even manage an immigration policy?
