    My parents won't shut the fuck up about college, some times I was I had American parents.

    I WISH my parents had focused more on my education.

    The day I received a letter in the mail about my full scholarship, I ran in the house practically jumping for joy to tell my parents. My mom's reaction was, "So?" And my dad's reaction was, "You actually think you're smart enough to keep up in college?"

    Of course, my parents were the type of people who only cared about their own happiness.

    They pretty much talked me out of going to college, told me I should get a job as a cashier at the casino, and I never went.

    Now I regret allowing them to make me feel so stupid.

      My dad was also never supportive when I use to skate a lot, and considering to go pro. I never stopped because of him though.

      This is so sad! It is obvious you wanted to go ahead and learn stuff seeing as you were so delighted to get the scholarship. I hope one day you get to finish your education.

    My parents have always been supportive whether about my education or other aspects of my life (relationships, friendships, jobs, etc.). They give their opinion when asked but allow me to make my own decisions. When given a $36,000 scholarship to college they were ecstatic. And when I wasn't happy at the school and decided to transfer they supported my decision.

    It was important to get good grades, but I did it more for myself than to please my parents.

    My mom attended technical school and believes college isn't for everyone (enter my 20-year old brother). And my dad went to FSU and left 20 credits short of graduating and feels that we should all get college degrees because we would regret it (like he does) if we didn't.
