    Titanic

Avatar is awesome, but it's politics are too obvious and make a straw man antagonist out of the corporate forces that detracts a bit.  I've only seen it once though, so I reserve the right to change my mind after multiple viewings (which I look forward to!).

Avatar by a country mile.  Titanic was great but Avatar is brilliant and I believe it will be a long time before we see anything beat it out.

    Cheers

it's rather tough to say because there both in different genres and both have had their own impact on american pop culture.  However, I'll digress.   If i had to pick one, i'll say "Avatar", simply because the special effects in that movie will revolutionize the entertainment industry.  for you see, unlike most sci-fi films where they shoot the actors in front of the blue/green screen and add the effects later. No, according to my sources, cameron used a special camera and equipment that not only allowed for great realism, but it also allowed them add in the effects while they were filming the actors.  thus, allowing for the staff to see the finished product of the film while shooting it.  i believe such revolutionary tech will redefine the way we see movies in the future.  thus, tapping into unfathomable potential we have yet to comprehend.  smile
