TEA Party/Being Independent

   Any people who are part of the TEA Parties here, what is your issue/complaint with either or both of the major Parties?

      Well both parties are and have been fiscally irresponsible. The democrats, led by Obama, have become basically socialists intent on expanding government control over every aspect of our lives regardless of the costs! The federal government, regardless of party, has long moved to concentrate power in itself in spite of constitutional safeguards from doing so, by a congress that has seemingly viewed the oath of office as just words you say when you get the job, and the constitution as a "living" document which can be interpreted however they see fit at the time.
      
      I would like to see a return to constitutional government, an elimination of illegal entitlements like social security and medicare. I'd like to see the IRS eliminated and replaced with a consumption tax. And I'd like to see all our troups brought back home. I want the budget balanced and the feds to stick to only the powers granted them by the constitution.

         In your plan to eliminate social security and medicare would we get our money back?  What about the people that counted it towards their retirement.  Sorry you just lose out?  The government gets to keep your money?
         
         The Constitution was written to be a basis to govern by and to be amended to reflect the will of the people.  I do agree that the slimebags should not continue to defy it with unlawful actions contrary to it.  If they wish to do something to amend it they should follow the procedures allowed in it.

         Hey Poppa Blues:
         I'd like to see these things eliminated too.  But how realistic is it, and how can it be done?

            Right not the USA unfunded liabilities, that is the value of promised entitlements, is 107 TRILLION dollars!! Our national debt is 12 trillion and our deficit is 1.3 trillion. Do you really believe the government is going to make good on all that it`s promised? Sooner or later, someone is going to get screwed out of their money. Now I don`t want that to be me, but it certainly isn`t right or fair to pass the problem onto out kids. Something needs to be done now and we need people in gov that care more about what`s right then getting re-elected!

   Neither side has or is addressing the real debut issue. Deficits as defined by Team Obama have little to do with reducing the actual debt. They are all about reducing imaginary Budgets.
   
   In 1980 the National Debt was under 1 trillion.  Today it exceeds $12 Trillion.  By 2020... just 10 years from now the National Debt is forecast to be 148% of GDP.
   
   When your debt is 1.5 times larger than your ability to produce you have a bit of a problem.  It's called solvency!  The United States is teetering on the brink of insolvency right now!
   
   And who is owed the money?  Whomever holds the notes.  And who is that?  Good question really.  Primarily investors in Treasury Bills.  Many of these investors are foriegn countries.  So what happens when we default?  The dollar tanks.  Then what?  Then we have a Great Depression that makes the first Great Depression look like a minor Recession.
   
   Yet Congress and the President goes about business like nothing is going on.  They keep spending and borrowing.  Next comes the call for higher taxes.  Unfortunately there will be no recovery so any call for taxes will be a populist disaster.
   
   It's just math. And both sides have their heads in the Sand.
   
   It's not Doom and Gloom, it's the economic reality of a Fractional Banking System which has passed it's point of equilibrium.
   
   Ombama's current solution is to spoon feed Banks of all sizes more money so they can make more loans.  Exactly what is NOT needed.   Americans and American Business can not absorb more debt.
   
   By law the $30 Billion of TARP funds that Obama is lobbying to give to smaller banks is to be returned to pay the deficit.  He knows this but keeps on lobbying in the name of "job creation".  Then he turns around and Barks at the Repulicans for pointing this out.   Why have laws if you are not going to follow them?
   
   And how does giving banks more money help anyone?  It doesn't.  It gives them a "Free Pass".  They get money and do whatever the want and if they do make loans and they do go in to default they are backed by Free Government money so the banks don't care.
   
   It just goes on and on. Banks get a free pass, Americans get stuck with the bills!
   
   Unfortnatley for Bankers the system itself is collapsing so their free ride won't last either. Except when the crash does come they will have title to America's Assets so when a new system is put into place they will already own everything.
   
   And the Social Security System, Medicare, etc. will not be going away any time soon. The public outrage over canceling programs that people have paid into for a large portion of their lives would be too large.
   
   Once people pay into a system their entitlement prevents the political abandonment of that system.
   
   Good times are just around the corner... right after the collapse and complete rebuild of our Monetary System.  Probably a long way into the future in our lifetimes.  The time to act is now, and it is not happening.

   for now, the focus needs to be on getting in alignment with the constitution...period. Just doing that will bring all other things back to where they need to be in all aspects of life. It will be a challenge, but it has got to be done, or the Republic will fall apart.
   
   People need to wake up, get the clues cascading around them, and change the  way they see and do things. Setting aside political partisanship needs to happen. All the funny money needs to stop being thrown around.

   Perhaps we should bring bill clinton back...he left a balanced budget when he left office. In fact there was a revenue surplus.

      Don't start with that tired comment.  First of all, there was also a Republican Congress that helped.  Entitlement programs such as Welfare (remember the Welfare Reform Act of 1996?) which Clinton signed after vetoing 2x, then taking all of the credit.  We didn't have 911 at the time either.  Both Parties played roles in getting a surplus at the time.  It's not all on just one man.

   It seems apparent that the TEA PARTY movement is doining it's best to be a grass roots movement however I'm pretty skeptical of it.  While it leans more toward the politcal right and the Repbulican Party it claims to be independent of both.  My biggest question is why did the original founders of the movement have it set up as a corporation.  It is a FOR PROFIT foundation.  Also Sarah Palin is bing paid $100,000.00 to be the keynote speaker in Nashville this week.  For all its rhetoric I think the movement itself is a lot of hot air with a hidden agneda!!!

      the problems lie in the many "factions" of the TEA movement. I am involved to a small degree directly with some of the people in the original group, whose only mandates are alignment with the constitution, limited government, fiscal responsibiity, free markets and "we the people" is the real power that supports and guides government...mostly that citizens are to be left alone by government.
      
      those that are trying to "take over" the movement connected with some Republicans, are not truly the grass roots...they just want to cash in on the power of the movement, and may end up just as politically bound and big government as now.
      
      the Real TEA Party people are grassroot oriented and not politically motivated to be in control of anything except their own lives...! as per the Constitution.
