I was diagnosed about 2 years ago with Fibromyalsia.I realise I have yet come to terms with how this effects my everyday living.I'm a Mom with 6 kids and a busy homeschooling schedule.I find that most days I stuggle to think clearly and this aspect is really effecting me mentally.Do other sufferers find this a problem for themselves as well.I'm trying to wrap my head around this unfamiliar disease and would really appriciate your feed back. Maybe you can share your own personal experiences?Any advice

What I know about  fibromyalagia is that it is caused by a lack of oxygen to the affected joints. When I was suffering with Apnea this was one of the side effects I also suffered. Since my Apnea has been cured I no longer have the problem

My mother has fibromyalagia, the thing that has helped her the most was keeping busy, yet most of all, a massage!  Deep tissue massage, with drinking lots of water afterwards.

Also what has helped her is water aerobics or swimming, and baths with Epsom Salts, to help rid her body of toxins.

It does seem, when she is doing these things, her clarity of mind is better, because her body is feeling better, less pain!

Fibromyalsia? No No it is Fibromyalgia. It is a form of fibromyalgia where pain occurs in muscles, tendons, and ligaments throughout the body. It is most common in young and middle-aged women, but can also be found in men, children, adolescents, and older adults. Fibromyalgia is even not well understood by the medical community.

Since the cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, there is no fibromyalgia cure. However, by treating the symptoms you may be experiencing, your doctor should be able to provide you with fibromyalgia relief. One aspect of your treatment will likely include a medication. An assortment of drugs are available to ease your fibromyalgia pain, help you sleep or treat other fibromyalgia symptoms.

I am still in the process of trying to be diagnosed.  I suffered severe arm and knee joint pain for apparently no reason.  I have been through tests and xrays and still no diagnosis.  They put me on celebrex a while back, and I have to say, it really worked.  I no longer have pain.

but My mental clarity was awful during my bouts of pain.  I could think of nothing else than that and even broke down in my doctors office wondering how I would manage to make my 32nd birthday in such pain.

I know how your're feeling, even if it isn't fibromyalgia that I suffer from. Muscle and joint pain are very debilitating and that goes not only for the body, but the brain as well.  maybe you could ask about celebrex and see if its a pain medication that could work?

not that i am peddling meds here, it just worked for me with no visible side effects, so maybe it could work for you.

Either way, I hope you feel better,

Yes, fibro causes mental confusion, etc.  Like your mind is in a cloud.

However, consider, too, that the medications for it MAY be the culprit rather than the disease.  Read those side effects!

Fatigue, in general, which is the biggest debilitating factor with fibro, also causes the mind to be cloudy.

Pain, too.  And, as you know, fibro causes chronic pain.

So, when you combine it all, it's no surprise that you have mental clarity issues.

    The answer?

    More rest.
    More rest.
    More rest.

Also, like someone said, massage is extraordinarily beneficial.  Deep tissue, that is.

A healthy diet -- truly healthy -- will help, too.  Try eliminating sugar COMPLETELY, including fructose and any other type of "..ose"  That means, no fruit. But, try it.  It has helped MANY.  Also, rid your diet of preservatives and chemicals.  Putting anything into your body that isn't "natural" makes your already over-taxed immune system have to work harder -- and that causes stress to your body that you can't afford.
