My PC crashed Monday.

   Hello;
   My big ,old ,slow PC crashed Monday while doing some research on some articles and I'm forced to worked on a small notebook.
   I now have shoulder pain and neck pain from using this.
   Are there any techies that can recommend a new PC? i was told about lenovo. hmm?

               you need not to worry about your pc you can restore and repair your old pc.it will take just few mins to restore,your pc will work fast and efficient.if you can search best software on internet that can repair and restore your pc.i had used stellar windows data recovery software long ago while my pc was crashed and the software recovers all my files and drive.you can check from here: Stellar Data Recovery Software.

   You can repair & upgrade the old pc, and have fun doing it. You will either have to replace the motherboard or the hard disk.
   
   When you get used to the notebook you'll never want to leave it. For now, just fix the keyboard from the old pc to the notebook and you are in business as before.

      hey thanks for the input. I did attach the old monitor and keyboard to make it a little easier.
      As far as  repairing it myself;well,I'd love to.I wish I had taken the pc repair class when I had the opportunity.;-(

         ok I did a little pc repair myself; I read the comments and some forum onmy laptop(thank God I have that) and emptied cashes,disconnected port,and emptied recycled bins.So far it's working better. I think she's on her way out,though.

   If you believe she's on her way out, backup all your data. But if she can do a few things here and there, then her problem might not be major - perhaps its just a virus which can be washed and cleaned.

   If you're going to buy a new computer get one refurbished from a reputable company. www.buy.com has some really good deals. Refurbs are just as good as brand new ones because they have to get checked over by techies. Plus you should be getting a brand new warranty as well. Good luck!

      thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm sure it's not a virus,this time.It crashed a while ago and someone got her up and running.I have AVG virus protection.It has some corrupt files .
      buy.com looks interesting. It was recommended to buy a Laveno(IBM)? they only ship with Vista.
      I'll find something.

   I would definitely second the backing up advice. You don't want to loose all your data or articles, so while it is working, it would probably be a good idea to save everything.
   
   You might check Tiger Direct too, because they have some good deals. Also, as far as Vista goes, I know at least with Dell, you can still get XP. Also, if you have Business or Ultimate you should be able to downgrade to XP Pro, but you should probably check with the dealer to make certain.

   If you want to save money (and learn a bit) it's be easier to buy the components and possibly fit them inside the case you currently have.  It's real simple stuff (been doing it since I was 13!) or some independant component shops will build it for you for around £50/$70.
   
   Otherwise I'd recommend a Dell machine, had a few of them myself for work and myself, they're well built and well supported.
   
   As for all the Vista scaremongering, I would save the cost of downgrading and getting another software license and stick with Vista, since SP1 came out it has been pretty stable for me, more stable than an old XP machine in our house anyway.  A lot of the problems and misconceptions about Vista seem to come from people not necessarilly in the know and most of it's teething problems have been addressed.
   
   Put it this way with many of my machines I'd guess each year I end up having to reinstall/format my XP machine twice, the Vista one had a lot of problems initially but when SP1 came out it has been fine.

   I worked in PC repair and DELL computers were our number one money maker, as in we got the most calls to repair them. That could just be because they are popular.
   
   Dells are nice because the have a built in restore partition (f 8 during startup) but they come loaded with "bloatware" tons of crap applications and trials
   
   Lenovo is a great brand. If you were going to by new, I would switch to an apple (virus free)
   
   Tigerdirect is a great resource - look in the clearance tab.I buy there frequently
   
   You could buy new from ebay (esp. if you purchase it through your own affilaite link)
   
   Vista probably isnt scary anymore, at least not so buggy - but is your main software compatible?

      You know ,I am looking at an alternative to a PC.
      After years of trouble and having to constantly update;the I Mac's are looking good.
      Only problem is they are more expensive.

      I wouldn't be so quick to say that, saw last week that Apple are now no longer saying that their computers don't need anti-virus software. (can't find the link to this article but I'm sure it's hidden away on Engadget or Gizmodo)
      
      Also at a hackers convention they had windows vista, osx leopard and linux (of some sort) tested to see which would fall first and grant the hacker total control.  The Apple laptop lost by being hacked first.  http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/29 … _standing/
