I go to view my hubpage but I get a "this user doesn't exist" error message. Can you please fix this? My username is torgusson, I have 4 articles that should be showing up, along with my profile, spotlights, etc.

I can see all of your Hubs with no problem at all.

I looked at your account and see that you have 4 published Hubs.
You can find the URL for each here.
      http://hubpages.com/my/hubs/stats

4 Hubs are also displaying on your profile (torgusson dot hubpages dot com) as well.

Thanks for checking, I was looking at www.torgusson.hubpages.com instead of entering http://torgusson.hubpages.com
        Weird.

He's right Matt - the version of the URL with "www" returns "user does not exist"!

Can this get fixed? Most People will put www

I just followed up with our engineering team and confirmed that www.subdomain.hubpages.com was never a functioning URL and should not be used.  These invalid addresses not resolving is by design.

Here is where this was discussed 2 years ago.

I've always understood it was normal practice to cover this with a redirect.   Most website owners of my acquaintance follow Matt Cutts' advice:

From the page you linked, notice that none of the examples show
          www.subdomain.domain.com
              www.example.com
              example.com/
              www.example.com/index.html
              example.com/home.asp

          www.hubpages.com does resolve
Also note that if someone adds www to the beginning of a valid full Hub URL it does resolve (see the following example).

          www.matthewmeyer.hubpages.com/hub/The-f … ws-machine
          resolves to
          matthewmeyer.hubpages.com/hub/The-first-programs-to-install-on-a-Windows-machine

I might be wrong, but I think you want it fixed. Is that right?

Most people will not type the www in front of a url.  Every browser recognizes urls that are entered like this

      hubpages.com

without the www and without the http:// part.  In fact, if you get most of your traffic from search, most of your visitors will never enter the url at all; they will simply click the link on the Google search results page.

Sorry about the dupe posts, I didn't mean to submit the fix request so many times, lol. Thanks for the responses.

Having a redirect would not invalidate that design.  That is what most webdesigners do.

This is an old topic and has been discussed before on the forums. The 'www' has never worked since subs were introduced and it doesn't matter because hubs are designed to be found by searchers not those in the know.

It doesn't matter a lot.  But it could easily be fixed with a redirect.

Matt Cutts at Google recommends doing a 301 redirect so that users don't end up on a subdomain page which says, "Sorry, that user doesn't exist."
    http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/seo-advic … alization/

This has been Google's advice since 2006.
