So I just had my first article copied. I knew it would probably happen eventually, but though I was prepared for the inevitability, it still makes me very mad. Besides filling a DCMA, which I did immediately once I was informed, how do you guys deal with having an article copied?
Welcome to the club, QuoteAmber. There's not much you can do to prevent it, so prepare yourself for many more DMCAs in the future. I regularly copy and paste excerpts from my hubs into google (within "inverted commas") to identify stolen content. It has become a regular part of hub-housekeeping.
No point stressing too much about what has become just part of an online writer's life. I choose to keep writing ... and checking ... and filing DMCAs. lol.
I've had 4 articles on my blog stolen before. It comes with the territory of writing online.
there isn't any stopping to copying..part and parcel of this all..
"My name is Enigo Montoya. You stole my Hub. Prepare to die."
Well
That is still an unfortunate thing at HubPages which I feel they must improve upon. A theft is a theft, it being an intellectual property doesnt make it any less a degree in the severity of crime. I can understand the agony as I have also experienced the same with my hubs which have been blatantly copied and pasted on other site.
Please do post if you find any remedy for this anytime.
I will have to write a hub on this. Use Google Alerts to alert yourself of copies as they happen.
Report spun stuff, a couple of sentences and source code violations to Google Spam with Chrome extension (one click, one sentence reporting).
Report article duplications to Google DMCA (get them out of Google. If you do host takedowns it will take you forever, unless they are a prominent website).
Report whole HP site duplications to DMCA takedown with host.
Easiest methods I've come across.
Is there some real compelling reason to pursue copyright infringements? I mean, how many hours is it reasonable to spend in order to recover that two bucks?
It's not merely about money. It's about how you dont get credits for your work. It's about how someone else claims to show his creativity with a stolen piece of work. It's about how the users are befooled. And how you get perpetually demotivated and dishearted and subconsciously decide not to put in your hard work to come up with something mind blowing because you know at the end of the day your work is going to be stolen.
I know how frustrating this is. On another site I write for I've been being plagiarized and I'm so lucky that other writers on the site have informed me of it. So sorry this happened to you.
I am writing a hub about dealing with it in the easiest way possible. Will post here when it's done, as I have a procedure I use to sort out the mess.
OK, my plagiarism hub is now finished at: http://suzanneday.hubpages.com/hub/How- … Plagiarism

If you have noticed your traffic decreasing lately on some of your hubs, this Facebook page is copying content from several hubbers and publishing it on their FB page. The Facebook page is called OHealth atwww .facebook .com /pages ...

My articles are being "copied by someone else" right, left and center, and the system to report or ask them to take down or attribute appropriately is not so clear.

If you are seeing a drop in traffic, start checking for more stolen content. After seeing a nice surge in traffic following the latest Panda thing, I suddenly tanked. Stats were not updated quickly, so it took me a bit to realize I was indeed seeing a 'trend.' Sure enough - there...

I want peoples opinions about the following.I have been checking for stolen content using sentences further into some of my hubs and have started uncovering dozens of pages where just random sentences have been stolen from a hub and combined with random (related??) sentences from I guess other...

After more than a year without publishing any hubs, I've decide to start publishing again. First two items on the agenda involved finishing an unpublished hub and responding to comments. Then I decided to investigate whether any of my hubs have been plagiarized and copied elsewhere during my...

Hi everyone. I've been writing for HubPages for several years now and enjoyed some success. But the copied articles are getting out of hand. Pretty much all my top earners have that little copyright claim red circle beside them. Recently one of my top earners was pasted into a forum and has cut my...
