   I often notice spelling and grammatical errors while reading hubs.  Even if a hub has great content, errors can take away from the impression and effectiveness of a piece.  In spite of the availability of online tools like spell-checkers etc., I think many times hubbers just need another set of eyes.  I'm wondering if there's some kind of service in place for this.  If not, I was wondering if people might be interested investing in a second set of eyes to review and proof read their work.  I am seriously considering offering this service.  What do you think?

      I agree. Although I also make mistakes, reading and re-reading it is a good practice. Also letting it sit for a few minutes or maybe a day or two before posting it may help as well. It will give a writer enough time to sit and dwell on the topic as well as have the chance to check  and to recheck the grammatical structures, spelling and even punctuation marks in the article. And just having another set of eyes also helps.
      
      Proofreading is a skill and technical knowledge of the grammatical structure and syntax that should be consistently practiced.
      
      I've learned to hone my skills by letting someone read my article and while it's being proofread I am  also observing from the point of view of the reader.
      
      For people who want perfection in their writing, they can get professional assistance. For those who are just writing, being conscious of the spelling and the grammar is equally important.
      
      Okay, enough said again. Shutting my mouth.

   I think people need to learn to be their own proof-readers. Sometime I find that printing something out and reading it on paper makes a difference.

   I've seen some terrible spelling and grammar on hubs. And the ones that need proofreading the most are the least likely to want someone else point out their mistakes.

   Ive often considered trading the service (as in, I'll read your recently published hub, you read mine) ...but never got around to even posting a forum thread.
   
   i remembered while reviewing yesterdays submission to the hubcontest and seeing some blatant errors in the titles
   
   but service , investing ?..as in purchase? not likely.

   If people aren't interested in using a free spell-checker, or can't remember to do a spell-check, I really don't think a pay service would be something they'd use.

   I honestly cannot see anyone here paying for it. There is a great little spell checker included when we write our hubs here. I often have a chuckle to myself how many people don't even bother to use that lol.

   9 months ago when I started on Hubpages a few very kind Hubbers sent me a message telling me to do a little better on my spelling.
   
   I did not take it personallly, but instead as help to make my hubs better.
   
   Im still not perfect but I know Im a lot better than 9 months ago.

      Thanks y'all!  It was just a thought.  I guess we're all on our own then.  Though I'm happy to look over anyone's hub that would like a second set of eyes, provided I have the time.  Cheers!

         Felice that was very kind of you to offer such a service. I think quite often people are pushed for time and rushing to get the article published, because some mistakes look more like typos. I agree that people probably won't want to or be able to pay, but darkside was right - maybe you could trade hubs and do and "I'll read yours if you'll read mine" kind of a deal

   I have been the world's worst at proof reading my work.  I think I've proof read it and then re-read it later and find careless mistakes.  It makes me so angry.  You've made a valid point.  Printing it on paper does help.

    I am my own worse proof reader, I can read it a 100 times, out loud, on paper, spell checker and I will always MISS something.  After it's published, I read it, 1 week later, 10 weeks later, whatever and still find an error.  I don't know if I would pay for this service but I certainly need help because it is very frustrating to me. I like the idea, no doubt.

    I am in the process of writing a series of childrens Adventure stories, and after writing and reading and reading and reading it again, a proof reader would really come in handy for me.  I would even be willing to pay for someone to help me -- especially when I start to get behind, when I have to have something turned in at a certain time.  Good idea
