Anybody want to commit to a number and post progress and frustrations?
I want to be down 40 pounds by Christmas. Anybody else?

You can definitely do it. You must be having your own fitness chart to achieve the target. Is Yoga there in the chart? Yoga in combination of balanced diet does wonders.
Hi, sorry I just can't afford to lose any more weight. One asian doctor prescribed a paste to me and it really helped me. If you like you can find the recipe in my new hub. Let me know the results. Good Luck! ![]()

I love yoga. I have a big yoga poster on my kitchen wall showing lots of asanas and the Sun Salutation. All I do is look at it though. Maybe I should actually DO the yoga.
I used to do it every day, but it seems like get so busy, and now I never do it.
I'm in for 30. I'll start to day. This is my plan: No sweets, no bread, small portions, raw carrots, etc. and a few nuts for snacks, and lots of water (no cola).
I exercise for 30 minuets every morning. This is what I do. Tune to music channel and go to Chrome (we have Direct TV /XM). Chrome is classic Disco and I have a blast dancing my heart out and doing some simple areobics. My husband is at work so it's just me and the dog, and she could care less how crazy I look. I just need to be consistant ! I've tried Yoga, but I'm slightly ADHD and I need to keep moving.
For the record: Weighed this morning. 172.4 lbs
Should we weigh up and post everyday?
Actually Losing weight is not that hard as others might think. All it requires is discipline and knowledge. Although some people resort to extreme measures like starving themselves, it is not actually best and it could prove deadly. Knowing what to eat is the first step. Eating just enough, particularly healthy and nutritious foods is one way. Healthy foods that increase metabolism is also a great way as it helps burn the stored food inside the body. Exercise is also a great way to lose that weight fast. Knowing the right exercise routine for you make it more effective. As for me, I don't believe in diet or not to eat. For me, foods are GOD's blessing to us, all we have to do is not to abuse any blessing. I always believe in the saying that too much of anything is bad.

Hi!
Your weight may initially fall while dieting, such weight loss consists mostly of water and muscle. When the weight returns, it comes back as fat. So, to avoid getting fatter over time, increase your metabolism by exercising regularly.
By having an active healthy lifestyle with a balance of exercise, your metabolism will start to work faster.

I want to gain more pounds
I'm down 14 pounds since started weight watchers two months ago. At first I exercised about twenty minutes a day and now I do about 45 and want to add 15 minutes running on the treadmill in the morning to that. If I stay on track I'll hit my goal weight by Christmas and post a photo of my new skinny self.
Gaining weight should be easy but if you have trouble it could be that you just are skinny by nature--Some people have a very fast metabolism. Lifting weights will build muscle, which is heavier than fat, so you might try that. Also, eat plenty of carbohydrates and 'good' fats like olive oil and canola oil.
I have used a great program and have talked about it in a blog. I was looking to lose fat, mostly belly fat, and came across a great program that has been very successful for me. I lost 13 lbs. of fat in a month using this system. You should check out my blog at

running is the best way to lose weight fast but instead of jogging why not play soccer or basketball where your concentration will be on the game rather than the fact you are running and exercising which physcologically tires you faster?
I'm in this quest. Like the rest of you, I am determined to shed 10 lbs more for Christmas. I cut down my sugar and salt intake. I'm now 120 and my target is 110 or less.
Go go go!

Follow Yoga - Asansa + Pranayam . Pranayam is all about Utilizing Inhaled Oxygen. 30 Mins of Yoga per day = Good and Long Healthy and Happy Life.
Hi,
I wish you best luck, it is important to 'divide' your goals into small achievable onces, if you loose 10 pounds be proud of it and carry on.
Hiya,
I would suggest eating lots of complex carbs as they make you feel full and release energy slowly. Cut out processed foods as much as possible, because they make you feel sluggish and bloated.
Stock up on veggies especially green ones like brocholi, and drink plenty of water to flush out all those nasty toxins.
Exercise wise, it is worth investing in a mini trampoline and jumping for at least 10 mins x3 a week. Increase your walking distances on a daily basis - what's more it's free. Start taking the stairs more often instead of the lift, (or get a stepper a great calorie burner) and finally skipping and swimming are great overall body toners.
P.S All these measures are credit crunch friendly.
Having a weight loss goal is a great way to stay motivated with your diet. But remember whether or not you hit your goal by Christmas, it is more important not to undo the work you have put in by throwing your hard work away for an extra glass of Egg Nog. Don't deny yourself all foods, but remember to be smart about what and how much you are eating of the holiday season.

Remember you CAN do it!
A few months ago I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. Since that time, I have learned a lot about healthy eating, and while I am a far cry from perfect, I'm pleased to report that since my diagnosis, I have taken off 30 pounds. My doctor says I will likely shed the need to take daily insulin shots if I keep working at this. I am also gearing up to have the lap band surgery, with the goal that by next Christmas, I will have lost enough weight to get rid of the insulin and the CPAP machine I've been using for the past seven years. If I can do this, man, watch out! I'll be smart AND good looking!

You can definitely make real improvements to your health through your commitment to lifestyle changes. Weight loss surgery can potentially cure Type 2 diabetes, but there is no doubt a healthy diet and exercise regimen will be beneficial to your efforts. Good luck - You can do this!!
