Hello,
Please type "windfall, how to use money" in google, you will see my article as the first result. What surprised me is that in the description it is written like this
"Financial Windfall of millions, how can I use money? - tips to spend and fill out money in the best possible way do. 76. rate or flag this pageTweet this ..."
I was wondering what is "76. rate or flag this pageTweet this". I never wrote like this in my hub. When I went back to the hub, I found that it is from the hubpages.
Do you think you could change the position of this information in the hubs. It seems to me that google is taking the title and the first line in my hub. If this information "76. rate or flag this pageTweet this" is positioned somewhere else, the readers will get more information about what my hub is about, in the few sentences Google shows in the search results.
Caution: this is tested only for one hub. May be this may not be the case in other hubs.
Cheers
I did the search in quotes and saw the same description as you. It's rather pants to have the hubscore, rate, flag and tweet in there, but there is little we can do about what google puts in the description apart from writing a custom summary (though G may not choose to use it )
Try writing a custom summary as others have suggested, give it a few days and do the search again to see if the description is different.
Hi
'76' is your hub score
'Rate or flag this page' is the option for readers to give positive or negative feedback ~ just below your title.
'Tweet this' is your opportunity to put it on Twitter ~ also just below your title.
You can write your own article summary to supercede the one that is automatically generated. (Ooops, I'd better check into that. They may not be automatically generated any more - they used to be. That could be why your hubscore showed up.)
To write your summary, go into Edit mode and look on the right. You'll see several links - tags / settings / summary / I forget what else. But that's where you can go to write what you want people to see when they see your article listed on a search results page.
Really? This is a new information for me. I thought it was automatic.
I know that ever since I've been here - or, I should say, ever since I've known about it - we have had the option of either allowing the automatic summary or of overriding that and writing our own.
Automatic was easier and required no thought or action on the Hubber's part, but it wasn't always the best, because it simply took the first X number of words from the Hub as the summary. Writing our own took an intentional action and some thought about what we would like to see on a search results page, if we were the ones doing the searching.
I'm honestly not clear right now on whether the automatic summary is still an option! In the few articles I've published recently, I did notice on one of them (when I decided to write my own summary) that it appeared that writing one's own is now the norm. But I may have jumped to conclusions based on limited information. I'll try to post back, after I publish some more.
I entered those words and your hub didn't show in the first 6 pages that I searched. It may have something to do with your browser cache as to why it shows up #1 for you. I may be wrong.. I'm not that page rank savvy.
I'm not sure, but I think the way searches are showing up now are not necessarily the first few sentences of an article. Whatever search terms are being entered will be the section of an article that appears in the search result.
It is an interesting information. Anyway here is the link

I typed in,"windfall, how to use money" and found him there, on the first line of the page.
I may have misunderstood the point of emdi's OP. But I am sure rebekahELLE is correct, that an individual's browser cache on their own computer affects their results.
I promised to report back about the automatic summary business - so far, for me, there is NO automatic summary created for the recent Hubs I have published. I'm getting ready to run a forum search to see if there have been any staff posts I missed that mentioned this; and then I will probably open a thread to ask about that and other issues.
Here's the previous discussion that I could find; so far, nothing from staffers that I found. I'm heading off now to ask about it.

EDIT: ALL of these are short. Don't panic by thinking there's too much to read.
I entered it with the quotes also, and came up with the first two lines of your hub on both Google and Bing. Neither showed the score, tweet, etc.
Thank you for highlighting this point. This is an interesting point. I think the difference is in the browser.
When I used internet explorer and used bing as well as google to search for the hub, both did not showe score nor the tweets (similar to what you saw). However, when I used google in Chrome browser, score as well as tweet came up. Interestingly, when I used Bing in Chrome, it did not show score and tweet.

Lately I have noticed how most of my articles that have been there for a long time, are being marked as not featured. And even after trying to "fix" them they are placed in the same stage over and over again. Considering the kind of "pay" we get for our effort, it seems kind of...

I have been in touch with the team concerning a hub of mine that was unfeatured due to the fact that I had only HP traffic and no Google traffic and felt this was not fair because my article had been online for years and had more than 1400 total views. This morning I received the following email...
