Grand Theft Auto Online Facts: Heists, Safe Houses, Free Roaming & More!

Updated on September 29, 2013

GTA V Online Facts

Grand Theft Auto Online is going to have tons of activities to participate in with your friends. Rockstar has confirmed that multiplayer will be able to be played with up to 16 players. When first starting online you can create a character either male or female. You will also be able to choose a particular background for that character. For example, you may start out in Los Santos or may start out in the country in San Andreas depending on which background you choose. Players will be able to plan heists with their friends and can choose how to split the amount of money. And unlike single player, safe houses can be purchased. This includes small safe houses to huge mansions that will cost more cash. In addition to heists, players can also rob liquor stores, gas stations, and grocery stores just like single player.

Free Roaming & Competitive Grand Theft Auto Online

In Grand Theft Auto Online, you can either free roam with your friends or partake in competitive game modes. Free roaming is basically just doing whatever you want in the massive world of San Andreas. This includes driving around, parachuting, playing various activities like Tennis, flying planes, exploring the world, robbing places with friends, visiting strip clubs or whatever it may be. Competitive game modes will involve you facing online opponents. There will be game modes like Team Deathmatch, Cops and Crooks, and others.

Leveling Up and Crews

GTA V will have a role-playing like system where you will be able to level up your character. Leveling up works by attaining reputation points which will be marked as (RP). Many objectives that you complete in GTA V online will contribute to earning reputation points needed for leveling up.

Rockstar has implemented a Crew system which is essentially gangs. You can either set up private crews with your friends or join public crews where anyone can join. In a Crew, you can complete objectives and various tasks to earn reputation points. Each Crew has a hierarchy or ranks. There is one leader, commissioners, lieutenants, representatives, and muscle. Crews will be able to face-off against other crews in Grand Theft Auto V online.

Activities and Cash & ATMs

Just like the Single Player version of Grand Theft Auto V, players can partake in many activities with their friends. You'll be able to race your friends, go to strip clubs, parachute, play tennis, golf, plan heists, watch TV, visit movie theaters and more.

There will be several ways to earn cash in GTA online, however, it's very important that you store your money in ATM machines or you could potentially lose all your money. Money can be used to buy vehicles, customize vehicles, purchase weapons and ammo, customize your character, buy safe houses, and other miscellaneous things. Note, there will also be vehicle insurance on Grand Theft Auto Online.

It's actually possible to get robbed by other players in the world of GTA V. This can be avoided by storing cash in ATM machines or banks. However, if a player does get robbed, a bounty can be placed on the person who stole the money.

Over 500+ Missions in Gta V Online!

There will be over 500+ missions in GTA V. These can range from heists, robberies, armored hijacking, and much more. However, I am sure Rockstar will release even more missions through DLC content. And it is rumored that the map of GTA V could be expanded! "We've always wanted to create a world with the complexity of a single-player Grand Theft Auto game with the addition of real players," said Leslie Benzies, president of Rockstar North.

When a character completes missions you will unlock more options to call in favors. One such favor is the ability to call in artillery strikes.
