Lego Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape 6867 - Avengers - Release Date, Prices

Updated on February 3, 2013

This time round we are taking a look at the Lego Avengers set Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape 6867. We will have a close look at this new Lego set and look at the release date, prices and where you can buy Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape online. Along with that we will also take a look at some of the other Lego Avengers sets that have been released under the Super Heroes theme.

In the summer of 2012 the big blockbuster movie The Avengers is released. This is a classic Marvel comics story that is already familiar to millions of people. To coincide with the release of the film Lego are bringing out four new sets of toys featuring some of the main Super Heroes from the film. One of the new toys we are going to see is Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape, so let’s take a look at it.

Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape

Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape Lego Set 6867

Of the four Avengers sets this one is really the only one to be based on a bad guy. For those of you who are not aware Loki is a super villain and enemy of his adopted brother Thor. Now the film has been released and we know a little more about the plot we can tell you this set is taken from an early scene in the film where Loki is escaping from SHIELD headquarters. He has used a mind control trick on Hawkeye who is now helping him to make he escape with the cosmic cube. They attempt their get away in a pick-up truck similar to the one we see in this Lego set.

This Lego set has the item number 6867 and will contain around 180 pieces. This makes it one of the smaller sets from the range. This is found under the Lego Super Heroes theme which has already brought us Batman toys and a Superman one as well. The releases date for this one is said to be sometime in April, this would mean it would be released before the film itself. When it comes to price for Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape we think this will retail at around the $30 mark. Update - Now this Lego set has been released and you can buy it online, although of the four new sets it does seem to be the hardest one to get hold of at the moment. As time progresses it will probably become more widely available.

The main part of this set then is a blue pick-up truck that Loki is trying to escape in. This is a fairly bulky looking truck with big chunky wheels. It also has missiles that you can fire which makes it more playable. Along with this set you get three minifigures which are Loki, Hawkeye and Iron Man. These all look really good quality minifigures and for the price you pay for this one it does represent good value. It is worth nothing that there are two different Iron Man figures, so even if you buy all the Avengers sets you will not get the same figure twice which is a nice touch. Although this is not a particularly large set it does look like being a very good one and will no doubt be very popular with fans of the film.

More Avengers Lego Released

As well as Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape there are also going to be other Lego sets released that will be based on the Avengers movie. These are also going to come out in April and they all look very impressive. The largest and for our money the best of these new ones is going to be Quinjet Aerial Battle. This is a really large one that will feature over 700 pieces, so a really substantial build. It will be a fair bit more expensive that the other toys but it has lots of moving parts and some nice minifigures including Thor, Black Widow, Iron man and Loki.

The smallest of the new toys will be Captain America’s Avenging Cycle. This will have Captain America as a minifigure and as you would guess from the name he sits on a little motorcycle. The minifigure in this one looks really good and could well be the pick of the new minifigs. The other new set based on the film is Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout. This is an interesting looking set that will have Bruce Banners lab and also a jet aircraft. The Hulk minifigure in this one is really good and you also get Hawkeye, Thor and Loki. This one has close to 400 pieces so it makes it a fairly decent sized build.

In April we are also going to see a set from the X-Men featuring Wolverine and we are also expecting a Spider-Man a little later in the year. With the vast wealth of Super Heroes Lego have at their disposal from the Marvel range and also the DC Universe range there are very few limits on what they can bring out in the future. This particular Lego set Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape is sure to be a very popular one when the Avengers gets it’s big screen release in April. If these toys go down as well as we all expect, we may even see more toys based on the film coming out later in the year.
