Strange Strange Addictions

There is this show called "My Strange Addiction" that features people that consume, smell, or feel things that are out of the ordinary. Mostly, on this show, these people would consume things that shouldn't be consumed such as deodorant or smelling mothballs. I've come to the realization that these people are struggling with these addictions based on them previously being hobbies that they've turned into obsessions due to some traumatic event that may have happened in their lives. There are a wide variety of people that have these strange addictions that I feel need counseling and help depending on what the addiction is. I understand if it it something harmless such as being a collector, but when it comes to causing your body, mind, or emotions harm, then I think that a professional should step in. Likewise, I like how this show tells these stories to others that might need help and how they get these people to talk to professionals that can help them to overcome there addiction. Here below are just a few people with a strange addiction that has been broadcasted on the show:

In the picture above is of Julius, a sixty two year old man, who has been sexually attracted to balloons for over five decades. He keeps more than fifty thousand balloon in his home at one time. He has a special room for all of the balloons that he has. My opinion of Julius is that he should see a psychiatrist that can get to the root of why he's sexually atttracted to balloons and to try to overcome his addiction of always having them in his house.

In the picture above is of Danielle, who is a young lady that is addicted to eating Vapor Rub. She always carries vapor rub on her and her friends have told her that her entire house smells like vapor rub. In Danielle's case, I feel that she needs immediate help for her addiction. Im surprised her constant eating of Vapor Rub has not become toxic in her body or has not made her severly ill by this point. I feel that consuming Vapor Rub can be extremely harmful to her entire body, due to the fact that it is not suppose to be consumed at all, let alone on a daily basis.

In the picture above is of Audrey, who is addicted to her stuffed lamb. She does everything with her lamb, even exercising with her lamb, feeling that she can't live without it. In the case of Audrey, I feel that she doesn't need help unless she wants to develop a relationship with a man in the future or if she wants friends. I say that she doesn't need immediate help because her addiction isn't harming herself physically. Granted, she might have mental problems that might be behind her strange addiction and she might need help with those, but her addiction itself isn't horrible.

In the picture above is of Margaret, who is addicted to bee stings. She has her own bee collection, in order to sting herself several times a day. She believes that the bee stings helps her athritis to heal. I've heard somewhere before that bee stings have been said to help with athritis and pain. So, I believe that she might be correct on that part. However, I think that the huge amount of bee stings that she gives herself on a daily basis could possibly be lethal in the long run. I feel that she should see a specialize either about trying to stop her addicton or at least to control it.

In this picture, you see a teenage girl by the name of Brea, who is picking up sand. Matter of fact, she's not only playing with the sand, she is addicted to eating the sand. She usually gets her sand from the beach or the playground. Whenever she doesn't have sand, she chews on nail files to satisfy her addiction. In Brea's case, I fee that she needs immediate help due to her addiction, her age, and the fact that the sand that she is eating can have bacteria and animal feces in it. I feel that she can become deathly sick, if she continues her addiction. She should immediately get help for eating sand and for having the need to chew on nail files as well.

In the pictures above is of Mike and his wife, whom are two people that are addicted to coffee enemas. Mike likes to prepare the enemas and while his wife is receiving the coffee enema, she likes to read, email, or nap. I feel that this couple needs help on why they are giving themselves coffee enemas. A professional needs to talk with them on the dangers of coffee enemas and why they should not be giving themselves these. Hopefully, this couple is no longer having this strange addiction be apart of their lives and have received the necessary help in order to overcome it.

In the picture above is of a man that is sexually attracted to his car that of which he also believes that he is dating. He kisses his car, loves his car emotionally, and does certain jobs in his car and to his car that he feel that are "handy", if you catch my drift. I feel that he needs help as soon as possible. He received help while on the show without any avail. Maybe one day in the future, he will be able to move on from his feelings for his car and will be able to have an actual relationship with a human being.

In the picture above is of a young woman, who was addicted to licking and consuming tape. She felt that tape gave her a rush of some sort. I feel that she needs help because tape is dangerous and shouldn't be consumed at all. It's not suppose to be consumed and it could cause serious harm to our digestive system and our stomachs.

In the picture above is of a woman who likes to lick her car and eat cat hair. She thinks that the best cat hair is when you pluck it straight from the cat. I believe that cat hair can contain bacteria and germs, despite how well cats take care of themselves. I believe that if she continues this then she will become sick or that it can even kill her if she gets some sort of fatal bacterial disease from her strange addiction. The faster she can overcome it, the better.

In the picture above is of a woman, who is addicted to having large breasts. She believes that the larger her breasts, the prettier and more attractive she is as a woman. I feel that she may need help as well. The more surgeries that you get, the more proned you are to receive an infection or a bacterial disease. Also, her enormous breast could be too much pressure on her hear causing her to have a heart attack. Hopefully, she gets help soon and see that she is beautiful without the huge breasts.

In conclusion, I hope that these people get the help that they need for their strange addictions. Some of these addictions I've never heard about until I read up on them. I feel that some have of these addictions stem from family problems, death in a family, incapability to deal with a financial crisis or a breakup, etc. The majority of these problems are dangerous, while some have to deal with mental problems that people have. Associating their needs with these strange addictions is quite scary and the fact that they haven't received the breakthrough that they need in order to overcome them.
