Drink lots of water every day - 6 to 8 glasses or more, and sip it slowly. (Yes, this actually reduces cholesterol!)
Follow the Zone diet.
Eliminate trans fats and saturated fats from your diet.
Increase your HDL (good cholesterol, that removed placque, and reduce your LDL (bad cholesterol, that lays down placque) rather than avoiding cholesterol altogether.
Supplement with Omega 3, such as fish oil or krill oil.
Buy whole flax seed, grind it in a spice grinder, and sprinkle it onto cereal or in other raw foods. (2-3 tablespoons per day)
Avoid deep fried foods and oil that has been cooked a long time. If you can, use only raw oils.
Use organic coconut oil, virgin olive oil, and fresh nuts and seeds as your primary (or only) source of oil.
