   Advice for finding a Reiki practitioner?
   
   I'm considering trying Reiki. I'm very interested in it and curious about how it works. I'm a little skeptical but I have been regularly doing acupuncture and I have experienced the power of alternative medicine. So I think it will be a great experience. I'm not sure if my terminology is correct, but does anyone have any advice for finding a Reiki practitioner? Besides actually locating one, does anyone have any advice for knowing if you and your practitioner are a good match? I'm sorry if any of these questions are "dumb" but I don't know much about it. I look forward to learn more.

   My town holds "spiritual" and "healing" expos a few times every year, where many reiki practitioners from the area exhibit at once.  Finding an event like this might be a good way to "shop" for one you like! 
   
   I know older reiki masters who had left the field, only to come back to offer their services again after seeing the current field of reiki practitioners and feeling they weren't complete in their practice.  So comparing what their services included against one another, and asking how long they've been practicing, could be good insight for you as well.
   
   A final thought would be to find out about their other hobbies - some have massage therapy classes, some are herbalists and aromatherapists, others read tarot.  This may also help you find a match that works for you.

   Hi Sharicey. I became a Reiki practitioner and, in time, a Reiki Master about 20 years ago. Lee Tea's advice is good. Your other option would be to raise the subject of Reiki in conversation and wait until someone tells you about a practitioner they know of personally who has had success.
   
   Word of mouth is a good reference tool. I think you'll know who you want to learn from when you meet them.

      Just thought that I might update you guys and let you know I found an amazing Reiki practitioner who was suggested to me by a friend. I'm so glad I gave Reiki a try. Thanks again for your advice.
