   Spending money on gas to drive 6 hours just to see extended family who are awkward to be around.

      It's definitely better if you don't have to drive a long way to just get there, because at the end of the day you have to turn around and make the drive again. Hopefully you'll see some winter wonderland sites along the way.

      If you stay home, the entire family gangs up on you. We're all still upset with my cousin's wife because she hasn't visited for two years. It's a dead end either way.

   The holiday season is stretched too long!
   Department stores start putting up decorations in late September or early October. The same tired Christmas songs are played over and over again in various renditions of course. TV commercials bombard the senses with "gift ideas" and the number of people leaving up their decorations into February seems to be increasing! And no this is not Ebenezer Scrooge! LOL!
   One final thought is after New Year's Day unless you are fortunate to get government holidays off such as MLK day, President's day, or even Good Friday then the odds are you won't have a work holiday until late May! (Memorial Day). That's almost half the year. Most people try to hold onto their vacation time until the summer arrives.
   I'm trying to make Super bowl Monday a holiday! ha ha ha Just like the Friday after Thanksgiving, no one feels like going into work after filling up on beer, buffalo wings, pizza, chili, and garlic bread on Super bowl Sunday! :-)

   the way it is now being challenged in name. some people want it to be termed as x-mas among other things and it's stupid. i don't care why it was started, just that it is a great time for families and friends to show their love. whether it's pagan or based on some other silly belief is irrellevant, enjoying it is what matters.

   Sometimes the holiday for me is marred by the purchase of Christmas gifts;  Who gets what, and how do we pay for it. Will they like this or that?....and it is not what the holiday is about but I get caught up in that trap like so many do.

   We don't have time to be in a haven for relaxation and revitalization, a veritable urban oasis where we can have a pause in the frenetic footsteps of life to rest and recharge. All along I have been inundated with advertisements that persuade me to indulge myself with a full-service hair salon or facial treatments by favourite beauty brands.

    All the money spent. Christmas is about nothing more than buying gifts now. If people don't have money to spend on their families for Christmas they feel like failures, when they shouldn't.

    The loneliness of it all.  I have no one in my life to share the time with.  I will spend the day volunteering my time somewhere then go to the movies.  Though what I would really like to do is crawn deep into my bed and come out in Spring.  I think the bears have it pretty damn good.
