The 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge
I’m about to embark on a challenge to create a hub a day for the next 30 days. Can I do it?
This morning I was reading one of my favorite blogs by Court from The Keyword Academy saying that he was going to try a new make money online experiment by making 100 Hubs in 30 Days.
A lofty goal which sounded fun, and since I’m always up for a challenge thought I’d join him (on a somewhat smaller scale) by doing 30 hubs in 30 days.
In the past week or so, I too have become rather interested in hubs ever since a random hub that I wrote about Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s new book The G Free Diet started getting some substantial traffic and took me a little by surprise.
I also have noticed that I have made a few odd dollars from Adsense from my Hubpages as well which is always nice to wake up to.
Admittedly I already have fourteen hubs under my belt so I’m not starting as a complete newbie, but I never really put much time and effort into them before and was just using them more as an afterthought for backlinks.
So I’m very interested to see what will happen if I make 30 hubs over the next 30 days. At the very least it should improve my author score which is currently hovering around the 80 mark and at the very best it might increase my online income – well I’m hoping it will anyway.
I have no idea at this stage what I’m going to be writing about, and I think that’s part of the fun. I imagine I’ll have a mix of hubs that promote my offline sites, some that promote clickbank products as an affiliate, and some just written for the fun of it.
I’ll use this hub as hub #1 in the challenge and update it as I add more hubpages over the next 30 days.
I’ll also keep you updated on the traffic I’m receiving and the results of any income I make.
Want to join me? Just head over to hubpages and create your own free account and start hubbing!
This should be fun, let’s get started …
Hub Results Week 1
It's now been a week since I started the hub challenge (actually it's only been 4 days, but Monday's are when I've got the most time to update so that's when I'll be doing them.
So let's look at what we've got so far in terms of traffic and income.
Certainly nothing exciting at this stage, with just 32 visits with 4 hubs, however it's still very early days and the last hub I only published a few minutes ago.
In the last four days I've earned 0.86 cents on Adsense (again nothing exciting yet) from those hubs.
I did get two sales of my Yahoo Answers ebook, but I can't prove that they were from the hub I created or another promotional method.
No other sales yet.
More updates next week.
Hub Challenge Results Week 2
Well it's been 11 days since I started the hub challenge and I've just completed my 11th hub (only 19 more to go) so it's time to update my results so far.
Let's look at traffic first.
The image is a little unclear, but since I started this challenge I've had 466 page views on those hubs which isn't bad for very new pages which should grow over the next few months, especially if I start building backlinks to some of the better pages (I haven't created any backlinks thus far, apart from interlinking some related hubs).
But while traffic is nice, you'd prefer to know how much money I've made so far. So, in the past week, from these hubs only, I've made:
Adsense: $6.28
Yahoo Answers ebook: $29.82
Amazon commissions: $23.94
Total Profit this week: $60.04
Total Profit since start of Hub Challenge: $60.90
Hub Challenge Results Week 3
I've now down 18 hubs since I started the challenge, and that means I only have 12 more to go to reach 30 hubs.
And since I'm sure you are all wanting to know my results, here they are:
So that's 1235 views on these 18 hubs since the start of the challenge. I'm very impressed because really it's only been just over 2 weeks since the challenge started.
And as for money made this week:
Adsense: $4.28
Amazon: $5.21
Ebook Sales: $4.97
Total: $14.46
Ok, so not quite as good as last week, but still not bad. Remember this is ongoing profit that I can earn for months to come without even touching the hubs again (except for minor tweaking).
That brings the total profit since I started this challenge to: $75.36
30 Day HubChallenge Results
Ok, sorry about the lack of updates. I bought the Sims 3 and have been playing that instead of doing any work online ;)
Well I did manage to complete 30 hubs in 30 days, so I feel pretty happy with the results. Here's a look at the traffic that my hubchallenge hubs have received over the last 30 days:
I made a good mix of hubs, some for adsense revenue, some for affiliate revenue, some for fun, and other's 'just to see what would happen with them'.
As you can see, since I started this challenge I've gotten well over 3,000 page views to all of the hubs, some with lots of traffic and some with barely any traffic at all.
Don't be fooled into thinking that the hubs with the most traffic have made me the most money either, because the two hubs that have received the most traffic: Sims 3 and George & Izzie have made me absolutely nothing.
So what's the update on how much money I've made?
This is the total I've made over the last 30 or so days since starting the challenge:
Adsense: $28.35
Amazon: $304.61
Other (my sales/affiliate sales): $136.33
Total Profit: $469.29
Not bad eh?
Do you want to learn how to make money using HubPages?
If you are a complete beginner to hubpages then it might be worth checking out Hub Blueprint - which is a great guide for getting started making money on hubpages and has easy video's to follow along as you set up your pages.

It's not my guide, but it's pretty good for beginners (if you are already making money with hubpages then you probably don't need it), but if you have yet to make anything it's worth it just for the video's.

OH MY GOD! Ryan Hupfer (works at hubpages) visited my blog. I feel all special and excited. That means that people ARE visiting :) Yah for me, and Yah for hubs!
How do I get started. I am very interested in blogging and now hubbing? I could use some extra money. Is there a e-book on blogging that tells you how to start or one on hubbing and how do you get paid. I am excited... I might learn something new. connie
Hi Connie,
Just sign up with hub pages and start creating hubs! All the info is for free here, some in the help files, and other's on actual hubs. You can have a look at some of my hubs as examples if you like, I've got ones just for fun, some that promote affiliate products etc. It just needs to be a short 'how to' article type thing which you can add pictures or videos.
To make money you need to enter your adsense id, amazon affiliate id and ebay affiliate id in the affiliate settings under 'my account'.
They are very simple to make, I think you'll like it.
Tracey :)
Hi Traceye,
The 30 Hubs in 30 Days is a great way to challenge ourselves to write, and to make a commitment to earning online.
Doing 1 hub a day is already not easy, really can't imagine how Court can do 100s in 30 days.
Good luck in your adventure.
MSmithHub, I know, I don't know how Court can do 100 in 30 days either! What a challenge.
I've had to put aside some other work to concentrate on doing the 30 hubs, but I'm enjoying it and looking forward to seeing the results.
Tracey
Hi Tracie, love receiving your emails, but as I am a complete newbie with just one blog on the go, I've never heard of hubs. What exactly are they?
Hi Dawn,
This page you are reading is a hub. It's just a one page website here on hubpages.com. They are much quicker to set up than blogs and because you can have lots of different topics the potential to earn money is better.
Take care,Tracey
am ready for 30 hubs in 30 days...
Great job on the first three weeks! Is there an update on how the rest of your challenge went? I'm curious to see how it all turned out and if you were able to reach your goal of 30 hubs!
Yes I keep meaning to do an update. I'll try to get to it this week! I promise. :)
Take care, Tracey
It is a hard challenge Tracey. You need to write a lot, even when you don't feel like it. Simply knowing that you need to write a lot of unique, high quality content, aimed to interest your site visitors and potential customers. What kind of topics should I choose?
Yes it's true, there is work involved in writing good content. But whoever says making money online is easy is probably selling an ebook ;)
I plan on doing more topics soon. I do best with Amazon where I target actual product names that people are searching for.
Hubs tend to rank really well, and while you'll never outrank Amazon itself you can often get on the 1st page and get some decent traffic.
I'll write a hub soon on finding good products to promote.
$400 plus is a great result for 30 days. Things should get better as time goes on if you start to built link.
i wish i could make 500 in a month
That's very interesting indeed - it was Amazon that was the moneymaker! I haven't got Amazon on any of my hubs yet - maybe I ought to start including it.
MSmithHub - Thanks so much. Yes I plan to start building links to my more popular (and profitable) hubs.
gurgel1 - just keep taking action and building hubs. You'll get there - trust me.
Silver Rose - Yes Amazon was the biggest moneymaker for me. The key was to focus on actual products rather than just write a hub and stick on Amazon as an afterthought.
Tracey :)
Great Hub! I need to start writing more hubs.
