Black Is
65You know you're black when..............
You keep getting asked where you’re from when you’ve lived in the country for thirty plus years and your kids were born there.
When you put on your jeans and it still doesn’t fit your round booty properly.
You hear yourself referred to as “that coloured girl” (who uses that anyway?), or “that Black girl”.
You laugh so hard that you cry at “your mama”, jokes.
You understand what racial profiling is.
You walk into a store and the security follows you through your whole shopping experience while ignoring others.
You
remember how hard it was to get a decent job before affirmative action helped
out even though you are better qualified or sometimes over qualified for the job.
You call to make an appointment over the phone and when you show up they say something like, "oh, you speak so well. I didn't realize you were Black". Silly me, I didn't know that I had to speak black too.
You attempt to move out of the stereotypes that others have of you yet you get dragged back again and again.
You read about all of the wonderful inventions and first that we’ve brought to our world.
You live in a town that’s still ninety five percent white and you’re lucky to see any other Black faces during you day around town.
It’s 2009 yet the attitude of racial intolerance still exists on this planet.
The majority puts you down without the understanding that you are part of the whole. White includes all of the colours.
Black is beautiful.
To be Black is just part of the experience here on Earth.
You re member that it’s not the colour of your skin but what’s in your heart that matters. We are all one. One Spirit. One Love!! God made us all. We all come from The One.

- Men's Sexy Underwear
I believe that men's underwear should be right up there with womens underwear. If I can put on sexy drawers then my man can do the same. I want to salivate about how sexy he looks in his underwear too.... - How To Stay True To Oneself
What does staying true to oneself mean? It means to love yourself unconditionally and to be whom you are meant to be. It means not sacrificing who you are to fit in. Who you are is truly always... - How To Start loving Yourself
No one can love you the way that you can love yourself. You, yes you, are important and deserve to be loved. Start with yourself first. Find a mirror and meet your eyes in the mirror. Say out loud,...

The funny thing is ... and this is the x time I write this in HubPages ... that we are all black. Genetically black. All of us come from Africa, it's been proven. We all share the same genetic pool, it's been proven. It does not matter the color of the skin, dependent on millenia of adapting to different circomstances, we humans are all cousins. The blood tests and our common human genetics do not lie.
This is exactly why I did a book review on Dr. Seuss' "The Sneetches." Please stop in a take a look whenever you can. Thank you for sharing, Chris.
Larry~ thanks for reading. Yeah, sad but true that these things are still happening. You have an open heart and mind.
rosariomontenegro~ no matter what the truth is some will never believe or agree. We still use our difference to separate instead of uniting us. Thanks for being here.
dohn121~ Yeah, I liked that story. Dr. Seuss is great.

You know you're Black when...
- you enter a restaurant in front of your White husband, but the Maitre'D ignores you and asks him if they can serve him (go figure),
- you enter the bank with your White husband, YOU ask the CSR person for something and the CSR person looks ONLY at your white husband and tells HIM the answer to your question ( double go figure... and by the way this one happens alot).
LeeKim~ Girl, that's so rude and disrespectful. Hubby should set them straight by saying, "this is my wife and you can address her when she speaks because she's not invisible." Thank you for the big up.

You know you are white, when I read something like this Hub and realize my perspective is flawed, and without much input from others concerning race...
I have never considered race an issue when hiring, making friends, loving or disliking, or on the competitive field...That perspective is flawed because it is only one side of the issue...my side.
To understand your pain, your perspective, I would have to stand in your skin and experience life through your eyes...We can't do that of course...but we can be sensitive to unintended slights by reading about your experiences...Thank you for this revealing and informative Hub....Larry
