Thanks, Patnet! I absolutely despise shopping at the best of times but I assumed that people were going to feel the pinch this year and thought something like this might be of help (I hope, anyway).
Thanks for coming by and having a look.
GREAT Hub Shirley!!
I try and make all my gifts each year!!
As an author, pieces written specifically for a loved one are always received with joyful tears!! As a watercolorist, portraits are always a favorite!!
This year I have researched the meaning of each person's name!! It will be transfered onto one of my new giclee's and framed for each person!!
There really is no reason to go into debt!! It's not really the true meaning behind the Season!!
Thanks again for sharing!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Blessings always, Earth Angel!!
Thank-you, Earth Angel. I agree about the debt thing. The stress of that alone is enough to take all the fun out of Christmas.
I really admire people with talent like yourself. I am not crafty, though I'd like to be. I told my sister that I was going to make her a macaroni necklace. It's about the extent of my craft talent. I have been thinking about doing our family tree and giving family members copies of it.
Personally, I like special gifts like the ones you're making. They have a great deal of personal meaning.
Thanks for coming by, and for sharing your tips.
10, 5 and what next....hehe. You amaze me with your gift ideas. Good job shirley.
Love these ideas! Thank you for the tips.
Great ideas! Looking for toys for my nephew, (Crazy Cube is good for one of them) I typed "Under $5" at http://www.myToySearch.com and got a great list of cool toys.
Hi again, Countrywomen. I also did a stocking stuffer hub, gag gifts, gifts under $20, but I'm not doing anymore of these. I HATE! shopping, so spending hours and hours looking through Amazon wasn't a lot of fun, but I thought it might be helpful. Thanks for your encouragement, it's much appreciated!!
RGraf, thank-you! I hope this hub was helpful.
Thanks, BDazzler. Oh, that's wonderful of you to share that link, thanks a ton for that.
Just in time for the GOVT. who stole Christmas 2008. Great ideas and this article stimulates thoughts for other nice but less expensive gifts for Xmas. Thanks for sharing I will have to come back later and re-read here. C.S.
I'm glad it gave you some good ideas, C.S. I like the picture frame idea. Put in a personal picture and it makes a really special gift.
Good luck with your shopping, and thx for coming by.
Hi Shirley, it's actually fun looking for Christmas presents under 5$. I remember last year instead of the usual gift, we asked the teachers to buy something around 20 pesos. (Conversion, that's even less than a dollar LOL) It was a challenge and yet we enjoyed it. :) The above gifts are wonderful ideas! :)
Hi Michelle. One of my sisters and I have done that - had a one dollar limit on gifts. It was actually more fun trying to find something in the dollar stores than if I was looking to spend $50.
Thx for coming by!
Hi michelle, lots of great ideas for inexpensive gifts that also would fit the euro (seems that euro market is more expensive than US market)
Hi Prosperity66. That's a bonus, I'm really happy to hear it helps in your part of the world, too! I have no idea of the conversion rate of the Canadian or U.S. dollar to the Euro, so this is great.
Thanks for letting me know!
Great ideas shirley for this time of the year. I havent started doing mine yet too busy travelling. Will have to get my act together
Thx, Eileen. I wanted to be done by the end of November, but that hasn't happened.
Hope you're having a good trip!

Considering the economic situation the majority of people are in these days this information is great. I know with the birth of babies and marriages I have more people to buy for this year than last :)

Go for it Shirley! A lot of people don't have two dimes to rub together right now. I think there's a lot of people who will be purchasing inexpensive gifts this year, making gifts or not giving anything at all.
